I still believe POS update is a rolling process and will take days or weeks to propagate through CVS systems.

No issues.
Two locations in suburbs east of Cleveland, OH

It's obviously no surprise that VR sales practices are different at different CVS's this morning. Since the beginning of this game, the rules have varied dramatically between locations -- and sometimes even between shifts at the same location!

The famous memo talks about a "register hard stop." It seems pretty obvious that this will be an important programming change for "clueless" stores and others that just don't "feel" like making the change. I'm not sure how CVS does a "register hard stop." If it's something that somebody at HQ can program, obviously the transition will be faster. If it's something the local store has to do, we're going to be getting sales variations for a long time.

While the odds that this is a prank seems virtually zero to me, I could imagine a scenario where CVS might change practices by region, or some other geographical criteria. Perhaps as an experiment. That will be interesting to watch for in the coming weeks.

7:10am CT. DFW $999.99 worked fine on cc. Not sure what to think after clerk told me PayPals were going cash only soon last night at a different location. Either regional as suspected or we are just on a different timeline.

This VR thing was rumored to be dead by the last summer. Why are people panicking now?

Just bought 2k in IN, no mention of any changes

Successfully bought 3 batch of $997.9 in 3 separate transactions at 3 different stores in Philly and South jersey this morning.

I bought $5000 yesterday PM and $2500 this morning from two different stores in the Minneapolis/St Paul area with no issues. Neither clerk mentioned anything about a policy change.

I did notice at one of the stores that there is a tag where the VRs hang that says they are available at checkout. So, I just had to ask for them at checkout. Perhaps they have had issues with fraud or other MSers hiding them at various locations throughout the store

...!!! Did we just get pranked?!?! I'm about to drive to work now and hit up my favorite CVS (stifle comments about going into work late -- give me a break -- I stayed up late watching this thread as midnight hit in the three different US time zones)

Thanks!

The cashier doesn't know anything. It is via the computer.

Any news about chicago?

This is not in regards to what the cashier knows. Some cashers may not even allow you to try the transaction, others may and it is blocked via the POS system.

I went 2/2 this morning in Northern Virginia. No mentions of any changes.
