Were these fresh cards, or had you done CA on them previously?

I went through similar warnings last month. However, after a few more load/unload transactions, all my accounts were closed. Now waiting for refund checks.

Similar issue. Account over yr. old. I took it easy, 2-8k month on 1 card. Always leaving a balance of $5oo-$15oo month. yesterday tried to load VR and told I can no longer add to card. Talked to CSR and she strongly suggested I use the balance as no more loading-she did state I didnt use it in a normal fashion.....WM, USPS, CA... yup, she was right.
I went to Chase and took CA for the balance $1559 + cents.....no problem draining it. I was actually happy I didn't have to jump through hoops to get my cash back. |
I called reg. my card which was in spend down mode, I had to give basic information and agent made it active again. Tested by loading 2 VR's and will be careful in future.

I have a feeling my account just got nuked. I wonder if it's worth calling in and sending in info to get reactivated for <$1.00 haha.

So unfair, even former bankers, auditors and fraud examiners deserve cheap entertainment! Just because we catch the bankers with their hands in the till doesn't mean we should be excluded from having fun.:D

I've had this card for a little over two months. I used it the first month, nothing at all in December, and loaded $500 to it today. I verified that the load took place and the account was in good shape. I went to make a pin based purchase and was denied. I verified that the account was placed on hold, faxed in the docs, and am now in wait and see mode.
I inquired why my account was not placed on hold a month ago, rather than after I loaded funds to it today. Of course, I received no answer. |

Did you do any cash advances in month 1?
I am completely perplexed on this. |
So, when account become active again (according phone information, but online login is not available) after putting on hold, can you load more VRs? I understand that account now in "unregistered" mode, but with pin functionality.

No. This is the new spend down only mode. But feel free to try to load and if it works, report back.
I believe Incomm should post a notice on the MVD site: "we reserve the right to deny our product to anyone who we cannot exploit financially." |

I just tried. Didn't work. One of two cards in shut down mode.

They seem to be shutting down anyone who loads large $$$. I bought a $500 MVD and activated it. And let it sit for a few days. Everything was good. I loaded $1500 over the next 3 days and on the 4th day the card was in inactive status. A brand new card...that has never been swiped.
Haven't tried loading it but I will to see if I can squeeze every last drop out of it. I much prefer this shutdown method than the other one. One thing that occurred to me the other day was the fact that denying us access to our $$$ via PIN debit was actually against the law. These debit cards must allow customers to use a PIN for their transactions. I bet someone stuck it to them on this point coupled with the flood of complaints to the various agencies that were probably pouring in. This new system is much better but results in a much quicker shutdown. Front line CSRs are given the power to flip the switch back on. It was smart of them to figure out a way to stop the load rather than stopping the spend. That effectively kills the card once the $$$ is gone. New customers are getting clobbered by these new rules. Older customers (who still have their cards) aren't getting clobbered as quickly or as hard. My brother and sister signed up for MVDs recently and all of their cards were shutdown within 2-3 load and spend cycles. 2 or 3! Fast and Furious shut downs. I honestly didn't know what to say to them... They didn't do anything wrong or out of the ordinary (for us) |
