GB = GoBank
Amex card allows you to move CC through the system, into cash, painful, which is why the program has not yet been canned

Agreed. AmexPP only works if you can get VR at 5x and free ATM otherwise the CPM is almost 2 cents / point-mile

$2.5k / month limit
= 5x$3.95 load fee = $29.75
Unload = 5x $2 (6 unloads of $400 but 1st ATM of month is free) = $10
Total = $39.75
Points / CPM
1x card is 2.5k points = 1.6 CPM
2x card is 5k points = 0.8 CPM
5x card is 25k points = 0.3 CPM
If the ATM isn't free (Say Costco $1.25 each) then the CPM for 1x jumps to 1.9 CPM.

3 cards per SSN => 37.5k points / month at 5x with $120 out of pocket so you can see why they are not that popular.

Personally, I rationalize the out of pocket by covering it with the cash back from AGC.

Has anyone confirmed if the $45k debit limit is a calendar year today?

I'm looking forward to this answer as well.

card status: inactive

I got a temp MVD card from CVS, load $2000 more, and made a tax payment. I loaded another $2000 more after that, and after one day, the status changed from "active" to "inactive".

Does that mean I am getting the official card issued, and the temp card became inactive, or does that mean I already get shut down after one tax payment? :confused:

45k limit has been but not enforced, now there are signs of random application which is confusing and punishing weird! The signs of misappropriation of funds is obvious, may lead to.....??

Nevermind, the status seems to reflect a different card number than the temp card. I assume that is referring to the permanent card to be mailed.

I have a data point to share and question to ask.

Data point: Got the "Spend Down" status and had 2 CA of 4000$ each this month. I am able to access my account online and I emptied my card today for a BP at WMT.

Question: DW had 2 cards which were frozen by MVD and I shredded those cards. Now, I accidentally logged into her account and she has 480$ balance on it. I tried to do a transfer to my card and it failed continuously. Apart from asking for a replacement card or closing account, are there any alternatives for me?

Need to ask for a replacement card. $6 fee.

So another datapoint...

One of my 3 and both of my wife's cards (that I run for her) were shutdown sometime last week between Wednesday and Thursday. Noticed this late Thursday night when I tried logging into our accounts. Of course, this happened after loading around 6k on to my wife's cards Wed/Thursday.

Somewhat humorous update on the wife's cards...

She finally spoke to a supervisor yesterday and was told once DL, SSN, and Proof of Address was faxed once again (she had already done this 5 times since Friday), accounts would be unlocked. She had a VM from someone at MVD later that day that wasn't audible b/c it kept breaking up (sounded like it was recorded in a cave) but sounded like her accounts were reactivated with the every 7th word we could hear. This morning, 1 of 2 accounts were unlocked (the one w/ 5k on it) while she was at work, so I was able to unload 2.5k via BP. She called about the other account and the newly unlocked account was immediately relocked, and was told by different supervisor it should never have been reopened and to re-fax the same materials in.

Both accounts still locked, will have wife call back tomorrow (let's just say she doesn't enjoy being an active participant in this MS fun).

Gotta love these jokers at MVD.

My MVD card was locked today after $1k load and put into 'spend down' mode.
I was told I can only use it for purchases, but not reload.
Does it mean that after I empty this card I should shred it?
Or I still have a chance to use it in the future?

A card was locked yesterday and unlocked today. Very easy process and I think the difference might be the balance on the card at the time of lockdown. Less than 2k has always been instant reactivation after a stern lecture. When the balance was over $4k I always had to go to the principal's office with ID, receipts and reload cards.

They seemed to have it down now. They said we dont like loading and unloading a lot of money in a short period of time. Card was fully reactivated (credit and debit functionality according to them) but they warned that if we load anymore VRs to the card it will be closed and a check will be mailed out within 30 days.

Catch me if you can!

If you can't load "any more" VRs to the card, what in the world are you supposed to do with it????

Interesting, they didn't say anything to me about not loading VRs, just rapid unloading without enough swipes. Maybe the no-VRs rule is for the incorrigibles? :p
