Am flying SYD-KUL (MH-122) later this month in Business.. Is the 'Chef on Call' service offered on this sector? What about the next flight which will be ex KUL to DPS? If yes, ho can I book it? I could not find any obvious link on the MH website, other than one for special dietary meals.

I am not sure on the SYD-KUL but you sure can for the KUL-DPS (especially if you are on MH 715 and want to avoid the standard breakfast in flight). It should be under the "Select Services" tab. IIRC, they are usually available a month before departure so your flight should be eligible. You might have to scroll MH 122 to your KUL-DPS flight to see the options available.
Special meals should be available ex SYD |

Datapoint from recent BKK - KUL evening flight:
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...1cbe1c56ef.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...89a930674b.jpg Beer was available but no other alcohol (as usual). Interesting flight where seat neighbor kept using a vaping kinda thing during entire flight, even covering himself and his head with the blanket pretending to sleep so CC would not notice... |
Another data point from KUL - BKK:
Aircraft got changed to an A330-300 in MH's recent flight shuffle so was good to have a proper LH product for this flight compared to B737 which apparently also flies that route. Delightful crew who really worked hard throughout the flight with good spirit and were a great example of their advertised "Malaysian hospitality". https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...be7f0026ce.jpg I had pre-ordered "book the chef", the crew walked around before departure and confirmed with people about their pre-ordered meal, so the process worked well. Sorry, I forgot which meal exactly it was, it was maybe not the best meal but at least had a nice spicy punch to it. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...938ef6cdec.jpg As the meal description for the return flight was on the back of the menu I add it here for completion (did not take the return though): https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...df3895ce0e.jpg |

Does anyone have recent food choices for BTU-KUL route ? Mainly to see if I should pre-book a child meal for my kids as I remember on my last flight earlier in the year all 3 options were spicy.
Tried using MH's website but seem domestic flight menus aren't loaded on it |
Just to add to my post :
3 meal options on BTU - KUL. Curry Chicken (Ayam masak something...) , Curry Fish (Portuguese fish) and Beef "Steak" which really is a beef patty. Heard from the crew that only 2 beef options were loaded so ... best to still order that Child Meal as spicy is still the menu's forte. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...573c6b7166.jpg Beef "Steak" https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...ea408db461.jpg Chicken https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6a74c67391.jpg Child Meal (Chicken with Tomato Sauce) This had more meat than either the adult chicken or beef options |
KUL - BKK, tried again the pre-book option for the meal, Nasi Lemak Chicken Rendang.
Lots of hectic running back and forth of CC once the service started with in the end 3 of them browsing through their lists and paperwork obviously lost which PAX had ordered which meal. Seemed they were not able to identify the meals by looking under the foil either. End of story, they delivered the Chicken Rendang to the PAX in the row behind me (they had ordered the Shrimp version I think), so when finally found out I had ordered the Nasi as well, only shrimp was left... Since I am not the biggest sea food person I opted for the chicken dish from the regular menu (which luckily was still available). Once CC became aware was very apologetic about the situation but it seems the entire process could definitely be improved... https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...80ae3d265a.jpg |
What's the wine selection like these days in long haul MH J? Just booked myself a KUL-CDG but can't find a wine list online. Is champagne served?
Is there still no alcohol for short hauls like KUL-BKK even in J? |
No change to policy
