Is this a common occurrence? In this case, I'd have argued with the lounge dragons and showed them a copy of the OW lounge access policy on my phone, failing which I would escalate to a supervisor or manager on duty.
No. It should not have happened. I suspect the staff are new or just oblivious to the rules for one world access. The BA staff at LH had to check online to see MH status entry for me and then let me in. So, the staff should have doubled checked if she was not sure.

What time does the regional lounge normally open in the morning? Got an up coming flight 8am on 13th Sep to SIN, not sure if we've got enough time for breakfast..

It'll be open well before your 8am departure which is hardly the first flight of the day

No, they don't offer freshly squeezed orange juice though it's something they could do if they really wanted. Not so difficult to do.

Does anyone know when the Satellite lounges are due to be closed for refurbishment again? Just thinking about my travel plans later in the year. Also, is it me, or were they not just closed for (albeit underwhelming) refurbishment only 2-3 years ago?

The Satellite lounge should be closed soon after the Regional is reopened.

And yes, this is probably the third refurbishment in 5 years...
