having a bar that closes when the lounge is still open does NOT give a premium feel at all.
Meanwhile over on the Cathay forum, punters are complaining that there isn't a tended bar in the new Singapore lounge. Can't keep everyone happy.

Because they must not tempt the Muslims from touching alcohol. Servers will refuse to serve anyone they think who are Muslims alcohol... that's why they are there !

What I meant by less premium is that it falls short of most lounges which serve alcohol 24h.

With hotel cocktail hours, if a brand practices say a 1-hour slot instead of the standard 2 hours would be pretty strange to me.

Have you been served by a MH bartender before ? I think half of them do not drink for religious reasons. Compound that with basic to no training , nor a premium beverage list ... there is almost no point for them to be there.

p/s : does CX have their own lounge now in SG ?

Right, sadly for Malaysia this might explain it.

I was in there last week and ordered a gin and tonic at the bar. They had no idea and put such a small amount of gin in it was just a tonic and lemon...

Haha.. that reminds me of the time I ordered one at an upscale hotel in Sanya, China. I complained twice and after the second time, I had the opposite which was the strongest G&T I've ever had or rather a Gin with a touch of tonic...

In the temporary domestic lounge just now (Gate B3) and asked. The response was “end of November” .... Can’t come quick enough with the standard of the current offering.....

Yes in the new Terminal 4.

I rather go to a lounge with self-served options like the CX lounge at the Satellite or T4 SIN (with self-served Moet!) than order a badly made G&T from a bartender

You can't access T4 if you have a T1/2/3 departure, and vice-versa

Truthfully, with Peter B. gone, I am afraid a lot of the different level of services going astray and all the planned "financial viable" improvement in the same boat....most probably as the saying goes, "when the cat's out, the mice will play"...in this case for a long time....

I flew through KL a lot last week, so frequented the refurbished regional lounge many times.

There were crowding issues due to renovations of the Satellite lounge, but I thought it was a nice lounge with good food, baristas and seating.

However, I found the bathrooms (especially shower rooms) dirty, even though they have an entire staff dedicated to maintenance. I was directed to a shower that had used towels on the ground and this is after an attendant had checked it. Also, the showers cannot seem to keep a stable water temperature.

Typical Malaysian style.. unfortunately.
Do not expect quality from Malaysian-led companies. Then maybe, once in a while you can get a pleasant surprise.
I'm afraid the new CEO will not do the company any good.
