Equinox - Vermont, $99 midweek - resort fee waived

a 'step below' true 4*/luxury, but probably appropriate for this thread.

Property just completed a major renovation over the past year.

LINK HERE

I happened upon an offer yesterday that seemed to good to be true.

Save up to 75% OFF regular rates with this special offer from Equinox, A Luxury Collection Golf Resort & Spa, located in Vermont. This AAA 4-Diamond resort offers a $99 rate, valid Sunday through Thursday nights through Sept. 24. Weekend stays start from $199 per night. This property typically commands rates as high as $400 during the peak summer season.

The special offer includes the following extras:

A $25 gift certificate toward any treatment in the award-winning Spa at Equinox
A $25 gift certificate toward greens fees at the Golf Club at Equinox
Complimentary access to the pool, hot tub, and fitness center
Complimentary high-speed wireless, valet parking, mountain bikes and access to 855 preserve trails
Resort fee waived (regularly $25) ^^
This property has been named:

One of the 500 Greatest Hotels in the World by Travel + Leisure
AAA 4-Diamond award winner for 14 consecutive years
No. 1 Luxury Resort in the Northeast by Departures magazine
One of North America’s Top 25 Spas by Travel + Leisure
The $99 rate is valid for the hotel's Superior Queen and King Rooms. Superior Rooms with two beds and Deluxe Rooms have also been discounted.

Blackout Dates: July 10; Sept. 18-19

Click here to book online or call 800-362-4747 and mention rate code TRVLZO. Book by July 8
I just completed my booking on SPG.COM (using my SPG Gold Number for the booking) using the TRVLZO promotional code.

Rate for 28-Jun-09 to 30-Jun-09
Rate Plan: Travelzoo
99.00 in US DOLLARS per night
Taxes
State Tax 9.0 Percent Per Room Per Night Not In The Rate
Guarantee and Cancellation Policies
USD 198.00 deposit is due on Wed, Jun 24, 2009 and will be charged to the credit card provided.
The time for cancelling without penalty has passed.
If you cancel the forfeiture amount will be 198.00.
Room taxes may be charged on deposits and any penalties.

The most incredible part about this rate is that it includes the $25 per day resort fee. Previously, the lowest rate I could find was $149/per night + $25 per night resort fee.

Was also advised by the knowledgeable folks on the SPG FT board that this rate (booked through SPG.COM) qualifies for points and the free night promotion.

I'll report back after the stay...

interesting, $150 > $100 would only be 33% off, but it also includes other credits/waived fees

bottom line - doesnt look like 75% off

Actually $150+$25 resort fee = $175 to $99 ($25 resort fee waived) + $25 Spa Credit + $25 Golf Credit

So, basically $175 to $100

edit to add : there was, at one point a $149 or $179 that included resort fee and/or breakfast, but it's a bit hard to keep track, since there have been so many crazy rates over the last few weeks... and the resort fee waiver is applicable to around 20% of the promotions I have seen, YMMV.

Not that I am aware of. I just found some more dates (midweek) for the end of August this morning.

FWIW, I've only had success booking online using the SPG/Travelzoo link. I did not have success booking by entering the code on the SPG site.

Rate Package: Experience More – Resort Credit
Includes: US$1,234 Credit Per Every Four Nights Stayed

The kicker with this one is that the $1,234 credit can be used towards the cost of the room. So, for a 4-night stay between July 1 - September 30, the folio upon checkout could look like this:

Night 1 $415
Night 2 $415
Night 3 $415
Night 4 $415
VAT (15%) $249
State (3%) $49.80
RSC (10%) $166
SubTotal $2,124.80
Promo - $1,234
Total $890.80
Is it confirmed that the resort credit can be used towards the cost of the room?

Yes, it's confirmed that the credit can be applied to the room charges and tax.

Also, the credit can be doubled up ... hence, $2468 credit for an eight night stay.

On top of this, Preferred Partner amenities are applicable ... meaning a Full Breakfast daily + $100 golf credit.

One detail you should be aware of: FS takes a three night deposit at time of booking, and the credit does not apply towards funds already deposited. So the scenario you are describing works like this:

Three night's deposit (room + tax) = $415 x 1.28 x 3 = $1,593.60

At checkout, you will have a fourth's night room and tax on your bill of $531.20. Your remaining credit of $702.80 can go towards lunch, dinner, spa, golf, and other incidental charges (about $88 per person per day).

Does FS always take a 3 night deposit or is it just the resort hotels?

This is still a good offer as it would make nearly everything covered so all we would be paying for is the room.

Only certain resort hotels take a deposit (Hawaii, Mexico, Las Vegas, Nevis, etc.).

Actually, for their $1,234 package, the property only takes a 2-night deposit. (They've made an exception for this package.)

Two night's deposit = $415 x 1.28 x 3 = $1,062.40

Thus, the remaining credit to go towards incidentals is only $171.60 (which can be used up pretty easily).
