Tried some time ago to book two free nights for weekend before last in St. Tropez, Ramatuelle, Gordes (Southern France). Trying two times, it was impossible to get free nights at any of their hotels there - high season, dates blocked by the properties and/or hotels fully booked since I don´t know when, or two consecutive nights needed, but one always was fully booked. From 15th August on better situation I was told. Available was btw Terre Blanche.

I asked also what is with Ritz Paris. No acceptance of certificates yet because recently opened and contract with LHW to be renegotiated.

Do the Unlimited benefits (specifically hotel car pick up) apply also to direct or FHR bookings or must be via LHW?

Any current promos to join or must pay $1200?

Netjets/Marquis card get complimentary unlimited - obviously not a "cost saving" option unless you happen to be in need of private aviation as well...

No, it will not apply to FHR bookings. At least officially you are not entitled to "stack" benefits from FHR with LHW (or Virtuoso etc...). Unofficially, anything can be negotiated under the right circumstances, but don't count on it.

Yes, but I don't think you'll get the API rate in such cases. So, amenities would not automatically "stack" i.e. be combined. The agent could of course negotiate for such.

In most cases LC unlimited benefits are basically the same, with the exception of the complimentary transfers. I'm all for negotiation, it's often half the fun

Some interesting insights...

Up Close With Ted Teng of Leading Hotels of the World

These are more than just insights on luxury. Teng and Leading are about to power up their budget, which will allow them to invest $30 million in technology over the next five years. Part of that funding comes from the very recent sale of Leading Quality Assurance (LQA), a joint venture program that carries out inspections for hundreds of hotels worldwide.
Over Teng’s tenure, Leading’s membership changed quite a bit. When he joined, there were about 480 hotel members; two-thirds of those hotels are no longer part of the portfolio.

“The composition has changed a lot,” asserts Teng. “The quality of the portfolio is significantly better than what it was.”

He says insights as to what makes a hotel a successful “Leading Hotel” were also put in to effect.

“We found that the business model of The Leading Hotels of the World really fits well with true individually branded hotels. We also found that it works really well with family ownership versus institutional ownership and also hotels with other chain affiliations.”
Fascinating indeed. Please see:

The Leading Hotels of the World has unveiled a renovated Leaders Club loyalty program.

The new program delivers the benefits members have come to enjoy such as opportunities for room upgrade priority at arrival, early check-in and late check-out, daily breakfast for two, exclusive access to new hotels, and Members Only sales, now with enhanced benefits like confirmed pre-arrival upgrades, point accrual to earn free nights, and more.

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd today unveiled its renovated Leaders Club loyalty program. The redesign was inspired by current members’ interests and amplifies relationships curated by Leading Hotels between likeminded curious travelers and independent hoteliers. The result is a more flexible Leaders Club program that recognizes and rewards members for their loyalty and provides upgraded benefits and exclusive access to the portfolio’s more than 400 independent luxury hotels worldwide.

“We co-created this program with our most loyal members to ensure we continue to offer the amenities they love while also introducing new features and benefits they expressed were most important to them,” said Shannon Knapp, Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of The Leading Hotels of the World. “The program was designed as a club for curious travelers who seek remarkable, authentic experiences and the hoteliers who craft them. Leaders Club elevates this relationship and delivers truly differentiated on-property experiences and rewards. Additionally, it ensures that at any Leading Hotel a member visits, they are recognized for their membership and can unlock richer rewards with greater loyalty. We are excited about the launch of this new program that will celebrate individuality and reward our members for choosing the uncommon path.”

Program Overview: More of What Our Members Love with Leaders Club Points
Effective immediately members will begin to accrue Leaders Club points on up to three rooms per reservation that can be applied towards stays at Leading Hotels’ portfolio of individually-branded properties in more than 80 countries.

Leaders Club will continue to deliver the benefits members have come to enjoy and expect such as opportunities for room upgrade priority at arrival, early check-in and late check-out, daily continental breakfast for two, complimentary Wi-Fi, exclusive access to new hotels, Members Only and seasonal sales and lowest available rates.

An annual fee of USD 175 provides access to Leaders Club with the on-property benefits members value, now with program rewards to enhance each stay. It includes one confirmed pre-arrival upgrade annually after a member completes his/her first paid stay in the program and point accrual of 1 Leaders Club point per 1 USD spent. With free nights starting around 4,000 points and numerous Leaders Club points promotional offerings throughout the year, members will be on the way to a free stay in no time.

Greater Loyalty, Richer Rewards: Announcing the Leaders Club Sterling Membership
After a member spends USD 5,000 on qualifying stays, they are invited to Leaders Club Sterling. This unlocks 5 pre-arrival upgrades annually, as well as a one-time five percent annual renewal points bonus on their qualifying annual spend in the previous membership year. Opportunities for further recognition and richer rewards will be available for Leaders Club’s most loyal members.

More Ways to Redeem: Expanded Rooms Types Are Just a Click Away
Members will now enjoy expanded room types, better availability, and fewer date restrictions when redeeming points. Additionally, Leading Hotels will now provide the option for guests to redeem directly online at LHW.com.

Help me understand the pre-arrival upgrade. Is it capacity restricted, or if they are selling the room one category above yours, you get it.

I'm concerned it just means they tell you "no" pre-arrival instead of upon arrival.

In 2016 I got a free 1 year Leaders Club membership. I want to say it was a Mastercard promo, but I'm not 100% sure. Is there anything comparable available now?
