For Amanjunkies and other people who have stayed at the resort...
What is the fascination with Amanpulo?
It seems to be one of the best reviewed Amans (minus the food) in the world. Yet for me, a beach resort (fullscale or boutique) in Philippines means Boracay. Anything else other than Boracay seems a waste of time.
This is the problem I have with Amanpulo. It is not located in a good place.
If Boracay is supposed to be touristy, or backpackerish, why could you not stay at the high-end and reclusive Shangri-La Boracay Resort, for example? You won't see many working class people there, that's for sure.
Most other Amans seems to be located in prime locations within the countries they are built (apart from Amankila), but Amanpulo just seems pointless to me.
Unless you're a huge Amanjunkie, why would you even know the place existed?
i wont be responding again, myself.

Now with the development of Phuket along with the profusion of resorts, sadly only a few original staff remain. These strive to keep training the ' newbies ' but it 's obviously an uphill task & to inculcate the Aman culture . Perhaps with so many villas, the GM also retreats more to his villa manager role ..
( While other family members began visiting Phuket in the pre - Aman era , my introduction to the island was Amanpuri & needless to say , a most pleasant induction )

In fact, Amanpulo is one of the most beautiful island resorts worldwide - located on one of the Philippines most magical islands.
The resort has the whole island to itself: Not just a flat island, but with a beautiful hill, with fantastic views to the surrounding islands - and long beach stretches with fantastic privacy and wonderful snorkeling multicolored fish views.
Comparing this one-in-the-world-place to a mass-tourism Shangri-La with more than 200 hotel rooms (sic!) seems completely surreal to me...

I think A380 either doesn't understand the Amanresorts concept or doesn't care for it. Aman isn't "talking" to him, and that's OK.
Amanpulo doesn't want to be on Borocay. Generally speaking, Amanresorts don't want to be in predictable locations...the further off the beaten path the better.

its just a question of whether they are willing to accept the offers they get..
speaking of which, if acquisition did indeed include $200mm debt, that might be a problem
DLF re debt - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17423104-post607.html
and actually, did the debt "force" aman to sell in the first place..
my last post http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/18014678-post64.html
did anyone take a look at the 2009 annual report i linked here? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17423090-post28.html
http://articles.economictimes.indiat...an-resorts-dlf >
im assuming for this quarter, but no idea re structure (see above annual report for example)
conference call transcripts would be useful, but ive only found one in the past
good info. if thats the only thing DLF is doing, theyre certainly good owner for aman.
FlyerEC, would you consider temporarily enabling private messaging?

Some properties are waiting for it to be finalized before additional facilities can be added .. e.g. some need proper ' spa ' or gym, etc

Q3 of their FY2011-2012 ("FY12") just had results released
so '2013' quarters (FY "2012-2013" and "by 2013") begin in apr, not next jan
its now Q4 and they say "next quarter, and therefore the next financial year"
previously >
http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...uarter&ct=clnk
that was in Q3 that he said that
so at least for this latest delay, its just 1 quarter, from Q4 > Q1

Asked about the company’s plans to sell its hospitality venture Aman Resorts, Dr Singh said: “We are likely to close the deal by next quarter. We have got bids from many players and all of them are international firms.”

hello to everyone..
if anyone is considering a mediterranean vacation in spring or summer i must suggest Amanruya on Agean cost of Turkey which The Times magazine selected as "best for style" on its best Mediterranean beach resorts.
i had the chance to visit it once its one of the most spectacular hotels i have been to. the resort combines luxury, style and tranquillity so well that after getting there you feel as if you are in a whole different world...
the architecture is both breathtaking and unpredenting, its the perfect fit of modern and tradition...
as The Times stated, every detail in the resort gives the guest the feeling of comfort. the spacious lobbies and restaurants creates the feeling of luxury in a very serene way. i must say that the Istanbul based arhcitects, Emine&Mehmet Ogun found the perfect balance between all these elements and created an oasis of peace.
Gabriel Lousada, GM of the resort has done a wonderful job also..
service is great and every employee is attending and very humble, food is magnificent you can taste very nice&delicate combinations of local food and other selections of world cuisine.
so if one values style, serenity, comfort & luxury Amanruya is among the best choices avaible..

question #1 >
few amans have seasonal rates
(number = number of seasons)
4 - yara, gani
2 - puri, pulo, bagh, new delhi
of those 6, isnt it only 2 that are owned by aman - puri and bagh?
just thought about that, in context of what aman makes over NYE for example
question #2 >
at aman new delhi >
that excludes the 28 lodhi (67 total)
lodhi building shown?

Not sure how they manage to do it in the current market(possibly the very high rates and very dedicated following), but their economics are terrific. I know someone who has access to their balance sheet and let's just say this person is laughing all the way to the bank.
