Very interesting. That would make for a hard choice coming from Canada--shorter flight to Aman Hawaii, or longer flight to Amanpulo and perfection. Having been to Hawaii almost a dozen times, I find it hard to believe that Aman could be Aman without charging an astronomical sum of money (Amanyara rates or higher). Even then it would still be hard to find the right beach, the right amount of seclusion, for it to be uniquely Aman.

(And, as a total aside, I just returned from Las Vegas. I have concluded Vegas = the anti-Aman. Complete total polar opposites. Every time I go I hate it just a little bit more.)

Sadly, I think that Hawaii dot is actually for Hotel Bora Bora, though the coding on the site seems wrong. (You can see if you hover over Hotel Bora Bora in the right-hand navigation.)

Thats the Amanpulo departure terminal but its not at MNL proper, rather a private airfield about 20 min away

In that case, MNL is a much bigger airport than I thought!

Same airfield but a private terminal. You have to exit the airport in order to get to the terminal. About 15 to 20 minutes in Aman provided transportation. Very easy.

Took us more than a half hour to get to the terminal (flying CX) on the way back because it was rush hour

Ditto. Was also told by the driver that I shouldn't bring my briefcase in the back seat as it may invite someone to try and open the door and steal it from us on the way. Wow. Isn't that what door locks are for? Apparently that doesn't stop anyone.

Good policy to follow also in Brazil by the way. Door locks are not very good at stopping someone with a firearm.

Owned mainly by the Sorriano family, who also have airport services etc, hence Aman Lounge. Many of the Manila families own villas at Amanpulo.

Not sure about the food now . The Chinese , has arguably the best Peking duck ( tried all from the ' top ' restaurants ) & Japanese were especially decent but this was 2 years ago.
