Yes, I remember the really ' good old days ' when Amanpuri was the ' affordable Aman ' trailblazer & all team members were warm & well trained.
Now with the development of Phuket along with the profusion of resorts, sadly only a few original staff remain. These strive to keep training the ' newbies ' but it 's obviously an uphill task & to inculcate the Aman culture . Perhaps with so many villas, the GM also retreats more to his villa manager role ..
( While other family members began visiting Phuket in the pre - Aman era , my introduction to the island was Amanpuri & needless to say , a most pleasant induction )
