The Fraport app now shows the current waiting times at the various security checkpoints in the terminal.
Similar information is displayed in the terminal as you will see below. I didn't know about this feature when I travelled through FRA a few days ago but one of the photos I took in the terminal included such a display.

The miserable experience at the security checks are the thing I despise the most about FRA. Now it's clear they manage to annoy the innocent and not catch the guilty, great performance.

I'm arriving on a UA flight, connecting to a LH flight.
Due to a schedule change, connection time is now 55 min.
Is this a valid connection time?
Thanks so much!

I was confused by FRA for past 20+ years, but after reading this guide I am lost.
Can someone please translate to humanspeak meaning of terms as used in this guide.
What is "carriege out of security" and often if think "walking on landside" means on the airside.
My understanding is:
Airside=the secure area, sometimes called sterile, the one where the bombs are rare
"Landside" is the area where everybody lives when they do not travel by airplane
"out of security" ??? does it mean Landside or Airside?
Thank you.
The lack of clear marking of the Tunnel is sooo un-German-ordnung-like - but it is there.

Frankfurt connection time
Hello.
Im planning a trip from OSL - IAH, with a connection in frankfurt. Is 1 hour and 50 minutes enough to make the connection? Never been to frankfurt only travelled through heathrow and New Ark. How is the passport controls? ESTA controls, security etc. Should I plan a longer connection?

There is no need to re-clear security in FRA if you arrive from OSL. You will need to clear passport control to leave Schengen. For departures to the US there may be document check and possibly random security check but 1 hr 50 mins should be enough for the connection.
Make sure to enter your API (Advance Passenger Information) data under My Bookings on lufthansa.com in advance.

In FRA all passengers arriving from non-Schengen/non-EU countries with a few exceptions are considered unclean. So they will have to clear security before a connecting flight even though they may remain "airside". The main exceptions are passengers arriving from the US who are considered "secure".
Also if you arrive or depart from B or C gates you will have to re-clear security regardless of your origin unless you arrive from a Schengen country.
I haven't come across the expression "carriage out of security" in this forum or elsewhere, so I cannot help.

LH to SQ - one hour
Would it be possible to connect from LH (coming from Vienna) to SQ (heading to JFK) in one hour? LH flight in business, SQ flight in first. or should we not risk it and get to FRA the night before?

Hello, I was hoping someone could advise me on feasibility as I have been studying maps without success.
I will arrive SFO-FRA from United then go FRA-GVA all in one itinerary, United/LH with 1.45 hour connection. I am in business.
It looks like I will arrive in T1 Z and depart from A.
I would like to pick up a gift for someone, however the shop is in B near gates 30-33 in the central area. Will that pose a problem based on time or having to renter security etc?
Thank you!

If your flight from VIE is on time or only 10-15 minutes late you should be ok as you only need to go through passport control (though there may be random security check) but one hour is tight for a connection in FRA. If you don't want to risk it you should probably plan to overnight in FRA.

If your flight from SFO arrives on time it's probably doable but I wouldn't like to try it myself especially if I don't have an EU passport.

From Z to B you can either go through passport control to A, walk through the tunnel and go through passport control again into B, or get on the Skyline train to B and go through transfer security in B. The former is probably quicker if you have an EU passport. You have a similar choice for B to A but depending on your passport and time of day there could be a long wait at passport control. You cannot go from B to A without going through passport control and security.

My parents are senior citizens and are traveling on Lufthansa and will be changing planes.
They are flying LAX to FRA to BOM.
They have 1 hour and 35 minutes between flights and have not been to the airport.
Are there any tips to make navigating the airport easier?
They are arriving at gate Z66 and departing gate C17.
I will be giving them the map below.
Specific questions:
In order to get from Z66 to C17 is the fastest way to take the Skyline Train?
According to the map below there are only 2 Skyline Train terminals. One is sector J4 and M2. Is this correct?
What if they arrive at gate B26A and need to get to C17? Is the only path going through the Passport and Security checks? How long will this take? Can they access the Skyline Train from B26A? The Sky Line stop is on Concurse Z. Is there a way to get from gate 26A which appears to be on level 2 to the Sky Line train terminal on level 3 Concourse Z?

The Skyline train has 3 stops: one for A/Z gates, one for B/C gates and one for D/E gates. The first two are in T1 and the last is in T2. Although the stop for D/E may seem close to higher C gates there is no passenger route from D/E to C gates. The only way to get from Z to C without going through passport control twice (into Schengen/Germany and out again) that I know of is to use the Skyline train. It doesn't make sense to try and go from B to the Skyline train stop in Z.
It is almost impossible to follow any map of FRA. The best map I have come across is on FRA Airport app but even that isn't easy to follow unless you know the airport reasonably well.
The Skyline stops are marked with blue circles on this map but the best (and only) advice I can give is to follow the signs for the departure gate. The fact that their flight to BOM will almost certainly depart from a C gate (usually C14-16) should help. If they arrive at a Z gate it could be a long walk to the central transfer area to get on the Skyline train. (Pier Z is 780 meter long). If they arrive at a B gate they just need to walk to C as the only Skyline stop serving B is between B and C.
The letter A after the gate number indicates the arrival level. Arrivals from the US in Z don't need to re-clear transfer security if connecting from Z or A so they can enter the terminal on the departure level. Arrivals in B from anywhere will have to re-clear security before a connecting flight. In your parents' case it doesn't make any difference because they will have to re-clear security on the way to C. They don't need to go through passport control when connecting between two non-Schengen countries (US and India).
If you are concerned you might like to consider the Lufthansa Guide Service which costs €75 and must be booked 4 days in advance. Or if they have reduced mobility a free support service is also available. This must be booked 48 hours in advance.
