The minimum connection time in FRA is listed in the wiki post. 1 hour 35 mins should normally be sufficient for this connection if the UA flight arrives on time. Provided you are on one ticket they will put you on the next available flight to CDG if you miss the connection.

IS MCT really 45 minutes for PRG-FRA-IAD connection? It's being sold as a legal connection but my experiences with FRA would suggest to stay away.... But, I am tempted because the only earlier available flight would leave PRG at 650 AM which would require quite the early wakeup....

FRA Airport Questions
I remember reading that LH provides complimentary coffee machines at the Schengen gates. I was wondering at which gates do they offer this service? I will be flying to Greece and if I can get a cuppa joe gratis then why not. For those that have had the coffee how did you like it?
Also where is the Biergarten? I remember seeing it the last time I spent a few hours in FRA but did not go there?
I also remember there are showers by the Mc Donadls for $8 per person do they still exist?
Would we have time on a 2:40 Minute connection to leave the secure area from SFO going to Greece and go to the Luxxe Lounge located outside security or would you just stay within security?
When I was at FRA the last time I remember being able to walk down to the rail station and back up to the gate areas without clearing security again. How could this have been? I was connecting to TLV.
I'm assuming when we connect from SFO-Greece do we go through passport control and another security screening if we decide to stay within security? And then clear customs at ATH?
I'm just trying to see what would be the best use of our time in FRA.
Ville Danke

Flying F CPT to FRA then FRA to ORD.
Non Schengen to Non Schengen?
5 hour layover and will need to take a shower after a 10+ hour flight.
Should I just stay airside(and avoid security delays) and go to a First Class lounge or is it worth the extra time/effort to go to the FCT?
Arrive around 5:45 am,depart around 10:30am.
This is my first time on LH and through German airports

Even if you decide to stay in the main terminal to go to the FCL B, you will still have to clear security (but not passport control). Flights to ORD normally depart from a Z gate so you will be driven from the FCL B to your plane.
Alternatively you can go through passport control to enter Germany and walk to the FCT. There will be security check at the entrance but it will be much more pleasant than security in B.
I would walk to the FCT if weather is nice but otherwise I'd stay in the main terminal and go to the FCL B. You will get the same food and the same (at least very similar) service in the FCL B and the FCT. If you want to use one of the day rooms the FCL B is better although after the current refurbishment the FCT might have better day rooms than they've had until now.

Thanks so much Newbie Runner. Just realized my flight is from JNB homebound, not CPT-worked last night so I'm a bit tired and not at my best.
I will be coming through in early February and will probably not have a warm coat so I guess it's the FCL B for me!

I would (under "normal circumstances") go to the FCT.
Edit:
Read your quote about "warm coat":
You could really walk (if not take the taxi ).

I have tried free coffee in FRA and can confirm it's not memorable.
The only Biergarten I know of in FRA is Paulaner in The Squaire above the long-distance train station.
Here is a list of paid showers in FRA.
http://www.frankfurt-airport.com/con...om_shower.html
Ville Danke for your helpful responses. I think we will just stick to a shower and a beer and pretzel at a restaurant if they are open at the time.
2:40 minutes doesn't sound long enough but even if you have 2 hr 40 min it may not be long enough and certainly not worth leaving secure area to go to the Luxx Lounge. Just use one of the paid showers and have some drinks in one of the many restaurants/bars in the departure area.
There's no way you can go to the rail station and back to the gate areas without going through security.
If you stay airside you go through passport control in FRA but no security if your flight from SFO arrives at a Z gate. If it arrives at B or C you will almost certainly have to clear security.

Wow, thanks for the great perspectives on transfers in FRA!
I will most definitely not be bringing a winter coat for my trip from the southern US to South Africa-since it's their summer and our winter(yes,Nashville can be very cold in late January/early February but family will be taking me to the airport!). But if it is a short walk for me I will risk it! 5 hour layover and my most likely main objective will be to get a nice shower after a 10+ hour flight from JNB before I fly from FRA to ORD and then to BNA.
So should I ask for a car from the plane to the FCT? Is that permitted?
If not, I suspect that I will just go to the FCL which I assume is still airside.
I am also assuming this will be a nonSchengen to non Schengen transfer?
I have never been in any German airports so this is a very new experience for me.
Any help or advice are extremely welcome and appreciated.
I do have and wear medical devices that should not be subjected to any body scanners so if by staying in the terminal will allow me to avoid that I will most likely prefer that plan.

I will arrive on LH427 (PHL-FRA) and connect to LH1008 (FRA-BRU) with 1h40' between them. At that time I will be SEN, and travelling in C.
What's my best bet for a shower in FRA? I will have to go straight to the office upon landing in BRU so I'd like to not smell like new C
Thank you!
