Yes. From B follow the signs for Z gates which should take you to the Skyline platform. On the way back the Skyline train platform is close to Z16 gate.
I believe you will have to clear security if you ride the Skyline train and that's when you might be denied access to Pier Z without a BP for a flight departing from there.

Arriving from the US you should not need to clear security but unfortunately the layout of FRA does not allow this if your arrival is by bus.
I'm surprised that UA knows the actual bus gate number in advance because they might change gates at the last minute. When the new Pier A+ opens in 10 days Lufthansa/Frankfurt Airport claim 90-100% of longhaul flights will dock at proper gates.

Since my connecting flight was in B non-Schengen, the bus might actually have been faster than having a gate in A+ and needing to walk through the terminal and catch the train.
But none of it mattered in the end because my flight arrived almost two hours late. I got the joy of dealing with the transfer desk which didn't know that arriving UA F passengers were permitted to use the welcome lounge, and didn't know that MS EgyptAir is a Star Alliance member.

Flights from BHX and MAN have been arriving at 1B Bus gates, 1A Bus gates and Z gates (not Z arrival gates @:-)) recently. From what hch reported it sounds like there are more bus gates under the central area between A and A+. I wonder if 1A Bus gate arrivals bypass transfer security? Z gate arrivals certainly should.
Why can't they be consistent? (I know we are talking about FRA! )

Got a 70 min connection on LH (DEN-ZRH). Not too worried heading to CH, but coming back will need to make the connection (also 70 min). Will they hold the flight as there is just one that day? Today's lookup shows a transfer from 1AB to 1B. Not even sure where to locate that on map.

Thursday's LH1183 arrived at gate A28 and LH446 departed from Z69. Today the gates are A38 and Z23. You can see where these gates are on this map.
Whichever gate you arrive at or depart from, you will have to go through exit passport control (near gate A11) but no security. Gate Z69 is the furthest gate in the new pier and A38 is towards the end of the old Pier A. So be prepared to walk up to one mile but 70 mins should be enough for this connection. A gates and Z gates with the same gate number are the same gates accessed from two levels. A gates are on level 2, Z gates on level 3.
They are unlikely to hold the flight for you even if your incoming flight is very late but will put you on the next available flight should you miss your connection (and you are on one PNR).

Yes, there are and they do reduce the distance you need to walk but I'm not sure how much they speed things up. If I'm in a real hurry I'd walk very fast or run rather than try to walk on the moving walkways.

I am not far behind you- I am 02/2014 and unless something changes my refusal to set foot on a Lufthansa plane with anything higher than a K fare unless it is guaranteed to be new business (impossible) combined with my emphasis on destinations that the entire group do not serve mean I am at 200K HON miles so far this year and will not even reach that total next year- so less than 400K and thus I will help to reduce this heavy HON burden that is hurting so badly the P&L of Lufthansa.
As it appears I am not a "master" of the new way of looking at airline income statements- somehow it is much better to have 200 EUR of economy class revenue than 80K of business per person Maybe I can guest you next year into the luxury of the ZRH FCL where we can enjoy the new 29 CHF "Champagne" they have scored to switched to as guests "prefer it"??

help with connection
So, my mom wants to come visit us in Croatia this spring. She will arrive from SFO in first and connect to Croatia Airlines in C. She will have exactly one hour if the SF flight is on time. Her ticket is an award ticket. Croatia Airlines flights almost always leave from the B terminal; the odds of getting a gate vs. a bus is about 50%.
As I understand things, if the flight from SFO (LH metal) arrives at a parking stand, she will get a special bus for first class passengers to the B gates. Correct? Then she can walk upstairs, clear security and go to the FCL.
From the FCL, if the flight to Croatia is from a gate in B she will just need to walk. If the flight is from a stand, will she get a car or will she have to take the bus since it is not LH metal (just an LH codeshare)?
If she arrives at a gate, she will just have to walk from A or C or Z to B, correct? Can she use the meet and assist service? If so, how does she do this? There are a few references to it in the forums but nothing on the LH website that I could find using a search.
Anything else you can suggest to help her navigate. She has done FRA several times but this will be her first time in first and we are hoping it will make it a bit easier.

I don't think they'll drive her to her flight since it is not a Lufthansa flight even if it departs from a non-gate position.
Arrival service for F pax is very poor in FRA. If she has no mobility problem the only way to arrange a meet and assist service is to book the Lufthansa Guide Service . It costs €55 but might be worth it for the peace of mind.
Since the trip is not until the spring I'd wait and see how arrival and departure gates or flight timing might change before deciding anything definite.
