Often there is only one HON pickup lady for all HONs on board. If you travel F/C, you will wait for the HONs in Eco before progressing to immigration. By that time, the whole plane is in front of you. And also possibly the two planes from China that arrive at approximately the same time. Immigration wil then take easily two hours.

So what I do is tell the HON lady I do not need her services and rush immediately to immigration. Typically, I will be one of the first in line and be done in 10 min or so.

HON arrival service LAX = useless!

HON departure service LAX = helpful, since they allow you to jump the security screening line.

I tend to agree. However, I always got a dedicated PA upon arrival, while other PAs waited for other HONs. They are not allowed using fast lanes through immigration anymore (This feature has been killed by the airport a good year from now). PA tries to bring me to a immigration lane, that looks fastest going and then walks through in order to get my checked luggage. Once I'm through immigration PA just has my luggage and walks me out. Not as good as it could be (or is even at other US airports), but they try to help as much as they can. Happened at least for my 2 arrivals at LAX (both on LH456) in 2nd half 2008.

It's not just LAX, it's all US destinations. At least the ones I've had the fortune to. They simply don't allow priority treatment at immigration anymore. I don't think it's the airports themselves making the call, it seems like more of a USCIS rule.

And recently it's one PA per plane, at least from my experience. Getting in to BOS on Privatair in December she was holding a sign with 8 names.... which means 20% of the plane was HON.

On my last visits to SFO, MIA, ATL last year there was still the fast track possibility. It is per airport per my information and my experiences.

On my last arrival at SFO there were 3 PAs for whatever number of HONs. One just came with me since she told me immigration was full. So she helped me very fast through a US citizens lane (since crew lane was full too).

On my last arrival at SFO last Sunday from MUC there was abolutely nobody, and it took 45 minutes to get through immigration. Luggage was going round on the belt already... Not impressed...

FRA-bound departure however was a breeze...

Today there was one PA waiting for us two HONs. I skipped the PA quickly and went to a very short immigration line, which unfortunately had immigrant workers in front of me that took forever to process.. (but the only other Visitors line had such a long queue that it probably took longer anyway)

HON service in BOM and BLR

Has anybody experiences with HON arr. service in BOM and dep. service in BLR? My search of the forum for a lounge in BLR shows "no lounges at all", but that was in 2004. Any recent experiences?
Thank you very much in advance.

In BLR you get PA guarding you to the lounge. For me it didn't help much at the immigration because the agents there didn't seem to like that service. I decided to just skip the lounge which is there now and sat at the Kingfisher sportsbar - much to the confusion and the station manager who popped by a few times to ask if everything is allright..

BLR has a PA guiding you through immigration and an assistant to the personal assistant picking up your bags from the belt. Immigration anyway is very friendly and hazzle free. They even say: Welcome to India, Sir! ( The US TSA morons should really spend some time there ). Plane to driver is done in less than 10 mins.

Outbound your PA escorts you through security and brings you to the First Class lounge. They have some food and a basic selection of drinks. Nothing to write home about, but quite ok. The airport is not really crowded at 2:00 am. Last week we had repeared power outages which killed the icemaker. The PA picks you up and let's you board first bypassing the queue at the gate.

BTW: You don't have to pay the airport fee any more for international flights.
I agree with HCH that the Kingfisher sports bar is more fun, as their TV sets normally work and they have good beer on tap and a nice selection of snacks.

Wink

In BOM you have a PA when arriving that takes you through a special line at arrival and helps you locate your bag and a PA when departing that takes you through security to the Lounge, which is very helpful as the queue for the 03.25 departure is always huge (lots of int flights at this time). The new Lounge (Oberoi) by the way has now alos a First Class section. Last saturday they had a mosquito attack there and only half of the Lounge was to be used because "too many mosquitos over there sir"....I had a lough until I started scratching all the bites....so be careful...

Thank you very much for the helpful information. I look forward to my first experience with BOM airport. BTW I will leave to MUC on my return flight as the dep. time is a little bit more convenient (01:40 h) than the FRA flight.

Do HON PAs slow you down?

OK folks here is another unhappy HON story, but since threads on the palatability of HON perks (or lack thereof) are mounting, here is my two cents worth.

I flew to LAX from ZRH three times this year and the same thing happened, namely I was picked up by the same lady who immediately told me she could not help me skip the immigration line and began walking soooo slowly that half of the plane's passengers overtook us. So when I got to immigration I had to wait for at least 20 minutes.

The day before yesterday the scene started to repeat itself, so I politely said good bye to her and zoomed ahead and quickly passed customs.

Tonight I am flying back and if I see the LX station manager I will jokingly ask him to subsidize her the purchase of a pair of sneakers.

Any similar experience anyone?

Still I am happy with the services provided by HON and by LX, but those who read my posts (few and far between) know this already.

i think this is the key here. as long as they tell me that they cant help, i usually just walk by myself then.

in jan i was in JNB for the first time, didnt know the airport so i was happy have someone showing me the way but when we got to immigration they wouldnt allow me to use the crew/diplomat/whatever counter, so i ended up standing in line as well. i think BKK is the only station for me where arrival PAs always come thru 100%. it usually takes me 15-20 minutes from planedoor to car outside, sometimes even including checked lugagge... ^

in general i prefer PAs on depature to jump security lines and guide me to the lounge and gate in case i dont know the airport, always appreciated...

BKK is pretty good now that the new premium immigration station is operational.

F and HON pax get an access voucher for these desks. PAs are always waiting for the 4-5 F pax (the rest of the cabin is usually full of non-rev friends&family )
