What a nice extension of the old Aussie policy: no shoes, no shirt, no card - no service.

Actually, this is an American policy. The Aussie policy is no shirt, not shoes, no problem.

And the main question is: Will JetFriends members get stars on their cards as well?

But what if for instance your wallet containing the card gets lost or stolen. Would they at least accept access through M&M number and ID? Seems quite mean of them to reject access without a card, at least in the FCL.

That must be new, or they have some new lounge staff, which don't know the regulars...

They cannot check your status it in the system? Should not be so difficult to put a scanner to read status like LH has got in Germany.
IIRC even in the lousy lounge at Budapest they do not need to see my card.

In the German forum people are now discussing when and what benefits come with the stars on the card: 'Lufthansa can't be that stupid to just print stars on status cards for nothing'.

Surprise! :-)

With one point per week of JetFriends membership, they will obtain their first star after merely 100 years ...

If you are based in US and you don't do a lot of Int'l travel on LH or LX in premium classes then it is not. UA would be you best bet then.

I think they might now be backpeddling...
I do however believe that they actually just wanted to print stars on the card - nothing else.

Lufthansa was very clear that the only reason was the visible enhancement of the card. That was published in this way and whoever was going back to management got the same answer. They did not want to give any benefits and there were non planned.

It's the typical discussion behavior that everyone knows better while knowing nothing. Getting a bit tiring when people post insider information and than everyone starts second-guessing it.

The naivety of this is appealing to my paternal instincts.

The German forum had insider information that the stars will actually come with tangible benefits?
