Do you have evidence that OS actually considers your status for this things? My uneducated guess is that it's just about the bottom line.

yes !
I flew with my family VIE-EWR 4 people split on 2 reservation (2+2 ..1 ftl , 3 blue members )
and i bid the same amout for both reservations - 300eur per person.
They upgraded only the reservation with the ftl passenger , so only 2 people.
And business had 10 free seats left so capacity wasn't an issue

Were the booking classes exactly the same for both reservations? Which one was done first?

I don't think so.
A recent example - 3 people bidding the same (1 HON, 1 SEN, 1 without any status).
Guess who got the bid ...
And on the flight there were still 6 free seats.
For the records: VIE-EWR december 2016 bid was 480,-

Hi,

I discovered this site after some googling when I decided to make a bid for the Jan 18th BKK-VIE flight. My bid of 510e got accepted (I bid a bit higher to make sure I'd get it). Thanks! P.S. The flight looked fully (at least the business class) booked to me.

Any idea of what a winning bid for one person would be for VIE-FRA ?
The slider sets a minimum of 95 EUR.

Does this upgrade system also happen at the airport if there are free seats? Also, if it is part of a partner award does changing the cabin class affect the entire itinerary with ticket re-issue potential problems?

no, bidding ends 72 hours before departure.U could upgrade during online check in /at the airport but for a fixed price
