You can bid on either, I don't think you can bid on both. Fixed price upgrades should be available/displayed at Austrian.com

Thanks. Work requires coach tickets be purchased. I think I want to upgrade to at least PE, will depend on price I guess.

Does a paid upgrade affect bidding in any way? Specifically, I have an economy ticket and I'm considering bidding to business - while paying for the guaranteed upgrade to premium economy, so that I have that at least, in case the bid is rejected. In case the bid gets accepted, I presume the money paid for the fixed upgrade will have been "wasted", right? Or if I pay for the fixed upgrade to PE first, will I then be able to bid from PE to business (and with a higher probability of getting accepted / at a lower bid than if I was bidding from economy to business)?

A lot of questions, I know, but I hope my train of thought is understandable... Also, if anyone can check the load on OS94 on 11/11 and weigh in on bidding chances, that would be very much appreciated!

Adding the prices (in EUR):
full price on OS website: eco light (H) 646, eco (H) 706 (I have this), pe (E) 914, business (J) 3173
fixed upgrade: eco -> pe 130 (want to do this before bidding for business), eco -> business 2700 (out of my budget)
bids: eco -> pe starting from 200, default 450 , eco -> business starting from 500, default 900

Update: after having upgraded eco -> pe for 130, the bid option from pe -> business is now starting from 450. So to answer my own question, the fixed upgrade to pe was not a waste but (even if for a slightly higher combined price than in case of a successful bid from eco->business directly) the minimum bid amount has gone down by 50€, and presumably, the chance of successfully bidding pe->business might be higher than if doing it from eco->business without the fixed upgrade intermediate step?

Still interested in suggestions on how much to bid / chance of success estimate based on the load - thanks!

just submitted a bid of 415 Euros per person for a two-person itinerary from PE to J. will come back to post if we were approved or denied but until then am interested what do you think my chances are for an accepted bid? the lowest was 375 Euros so after reading here (and given that we'll need two seats/approvals) I went with slightly above the minimum

wanted to follow up that the bid was accepted, confirmation emailed early morning monday for a wednesday afternoon flight. not sure if a slightly lower bid would have still gotten accepted, but I’m nevertheless happy about this one!
