LHR-VIE - €150 - accepted
VIE-PVG - €510 - accepted

Please add to the wiki.

These were for Monday flights on L class bookings for two passengers. I bid a bit higher than I thought would be necessary as I needed the upgrade for excess baggage. The emails from the SmartUpgrade system confirming acceptance or rejection of the bid are very slow to arrive, but you can log into the bidding page to see the outcome as soon as T-72h passes.

VIE-DUS - EUR105 - accepted

I had a actually reduced the amount of my bid, expecting there was no way it would be accepted given a higher bid was rejected for another flight 2 weeks ago. I had intended removing the bid altogether, but forgot about it.

Hi guys,

I got OS flights booked from HKG via VIE to LHR. Currently I am bidding for upgrade on both of the flights at lowest price. I think I need to increase my bids on them. I am rather to pay more to upgrade the long haul flight and fly on ecomony on short haul.

any surggestion for the bid on HKG to VIE? thanks.

PVG-VIE - €370 bid rejected - September 2016
PVG-VIE - €510 bid accepted - October 2016

In both instances there were at least nine seats available for purchase in business class; I think there were 18 available seats when I bid €370. Please add to wiki.

Don't want to knock myAustrian business class service, but it's definitely not worth it on these short flights, despite the pleasant hot meal and the excellent wines (there's even Austrian schnapps on offer!). Not even for half what I paid, unless you're desperate for the miles for qualification purposes. As whisky rightly told me, ordering a DO&CO meal in economy would be 15 Euros well spent. You can order one at a special desk in Vienna airport up until 1 hour before the flight. In the brochure they even looked better than the business meal tray that I had! Problem is, I would find it slightly bothersome if nobody else in economy had a meal while I was eating one!

well, it's not like you've stolen it or something. Everybody else can buy it, too, if they want to

I seem to get enticing looks when i order the schnitzel in C/Y, sometimes a pax asks the FA can i have one of those to order too

Yeah i know Ypre-order meal is ok but why C? I am just a sucker for fried fancies, and the schnitzel always turns out so well. The chocomouse is scrumptious too!

People look longingly at what you are eating then try to order the same. Guess they don't know the ins and outs of airlines like we do.

JFK-VIE - $385 bid rejected - October 2016

Ugh, first post. Bad news.

I called up customer service since they don't email you when you don't win the bid. Only email you 72 hours before if you get picked. CS mentioned that I may get the option to pay a fixed rate on the day of the flight. Mentioned it might be $600-$700. Probably won't do it if it's that high.

Update: They did send me a rejection email yesterday.

Update 10/16/2016: Bump up my bid of $385 for return flight to $475. Didn't help, probably cuz I did it 3 days before flight. Was rejected. I didn't mind, coach wasn't awful.

Business Class was booked up at this day. We asked at the counter.

Maybe we have luck at our return flight at October 21.

But, honestly why would I want to pay to upgrade on a 1h45m ride on the Fokker or narrow body Airbus?
Been away for awhile, but I'm pleased to report my bids. If someone could enter them into the Wiki, that would be great.

VIE-IAD - 405 EUR - Accepted (21 Sept 2016)
IAD-VIE - 450 EUR - Accepted (03 Oct 2016)

Bids are not a typo. I bid a little higher because the Europe-bound flight tends to fill up more. But, I had forgotten that I had actually put in this higher bid for the return until I received the email accepting my bid. I thought at some point after I flew the outbound, I would have remembered to go in and lower my bid for the return. But, I guess I never did!

It was my first time flying Austrian biz, and my appetite to fly up front was satisfied for at least a few months. So, when OS charged my card accepting my (higher) bid for the return, I briefly had a moment of buyer's remorse. But, I'm glad I flew it because I was able to sleep and be able to function for the 5 hour drive I had ahead of me

Other notes:
-- Original bookings were made in H and T classes.
-- Seemed that choosing to not enter a bid for my positioning flight from PRN did not negatively affect my chances at having my TATL bids accepted.
-- As people probably know, if you pay for advanced seat reservation and end up winning an upgrade, you do not get your fee refunded for the economy seat reservation. Learned that the hard way!
-- I especially enjoyed VIE-IAD because the purser went around to every business class passenger to make a personal introduction. That did not happen on the return.
-- Add me to the list of satisfied passengers of the new TK lounge at IAD. Not busy at all for a Monday mid-afternoon departure.

Flying EWR-VIE Friday in December and VIE-EWR on a Sunday. Can you please suggest a "winning" bid?
