Talking Empty business class of OS

Recently, they also started to reject up-grade offers of 80 EUR from "Economy basic" for an OS domestic flight. Instead they make clear that what they call "Business" is a free of charge transportation for Austrian FA. With new management, empty business class is obviously one of the ways how to "improve" revenue.

TLV-VIE 105 USD rejected

I was offered to upgrade for 249 Euro at OLCI and of course didn't accept.

I have a very similar observation. They continue to reject high domestic offers (90 EUR) although according to their home page they cannot not sell any ticket for this relation.
It seems that management is not in control of the booking situation.

Bkk - vie / bkk - vie

Are there anybody tried to bid for this route recently ? I seen last approved/rejected bid was in May this year.

Beside this, are there any difference if you bid for your flight 2 months before departure or 1 week ?

Thanks !

Well, I only tried to upgrade an european flight (DUS-VIE) once and chose the lowest possible bid (55 EUR per direction) which got rejected, although both outbound and return flights were packed in economy while C was only 2/12. Not sure how much money lounge access and a meal cost (while I would have had lounge access based on *G status anyway), but the only reason (apart from not being in control of the situation) causing the upgrade not to be confirmed that I can imagine is that they don't want to crowd C with cheap upgraders (something I can understand). However, from an economical point of view it should be better to upgrade as many people as possible as long as their bids cover the actual cost of the upgrade. And if they only upgrade 2 people per vacant row, no full-fare-payer could possibly be upset that the seat next to them gets occupied by a cheapo.

On a second journey on this route, I chose not to place an upgrade offer, and they offered me an upgrade at OLCI (which I declined) around 140 EUR for a single leg. Flight was once again packed, but I'm not sure whether there were any free op-ups (my impression was that they first try to sell upgrades before they op-up someone for free).

Guys, don't You feel sometimes treated by airline revenue management like evolutionary line between modern human beings and their anthropoid progenitors?
DUS-VIE "upgrade" on the same hard-padded seats on 1h fliht for XX EUR? Provide it to animal shelter, rather than airline white-collars - You will save some dogs and part of your human dignity.

They might need the miles for status, Raf.
But having rescued a dog myself, the option you propose makes a lot of sense, too

That seems a pretty reasonable price to me. It seems to me that this bidding system is a bit of a lottery, though.

Hey everyone. I've got 3 weeks before I fly from AUS to VIE. I've read this thread a number of times and decided to place a bid for BKK - VIE. Does the "offer amount" dial (indicating from white to dark blue your offer) have any correlation to winning an upgrade? Does anyone place a bid with regards to this dial?
