On a serious note though, I'd guess JFK/FRA because of the new A380 could be one of the first.

Any pictures of the "new" F on 747? Travelling HKG-FRA with my wife in late April 2011 and the F-cabin has changed from 16 to 8 seats. For the moment we have 83C+83H. These seats are marked as "Preferred" on the LH-seatmap.

My bet would be that it will be the same seat as before, only that they are just selling 8 seats.
Guaranteed seat blocking so to say. You can choose if you want window or aisle...

Same for me, LAX-FRA-LAX in June/July changed to 8F seats. Something weird I found out though, I did a dummy booking for these flights and they didn't show up as having F availability. Any speculation?

My flights after 20 April still show 16 seats in F.

I was told they are converting 744 to the same seats as 380- however how long that takes is a different story.

nope, not the same seats... it will be a seat/bed combo with the same look and feel than the A380 seats but it will be built on the base of the current seat. i think it was weight issues on the upper deck why they couldn't just put the A380 seats up there... 748 will be a different story though...

Ah ok- that makes sense- will make for a very nice 744 however.

So would you all recommend I switch my trip from an A343 to the B744? I'm traveling with my wife, so I actually didn't mind the center 2 seat configuration. The reason I ask is that 2 seats just opened up on my date of travel from ORD vs. my current DFW flight into FRA.

The complicating factor is that it shortens my (too) long 6 hour connection into a (perhaps too short?) 2 hour connection.

Advice would be appreciated! Thanks

The centre seats in F on the A343 are very nice as a couple- you should be fine- personally I would vote for the 2 hour connection however.

How on earth are all the HON (non lites) going to be able to maintain their status with fewer F seats. Does this mean there will be an HON fight to get F seats and the extra miles that goes with them

Check the seatmap of your trip to ensure that the 744 has dropped to 8 seats as I believe not all have. I'd vote for the 744 for a chance at the retro'ed F.

It probably does mean fewer A class fares.
