I took the metro from LAX to Norwalk. The bus from TBIT to the station took a while, felt much longer than to the Uber lot. Once there, bought a TAP card (had one at home but didn't bring) using the BART-style machine. Ticket + TAP card cost $3.75 believe. Got off at Norwalk station; Uber'ed home. Was a smooth train ride with normal passengers. This was in the afternoon. Total cost was less than half of Uber from home to LAX. Total time is about doubled.

Not sure if also due to metro opening up, but recent last mile car traffic to LAX have been the fastest I've experienced in the last few years. Usually the last mile takes 30 minutes, now maybe 5min.

That's pretty encouraging actually. Time should be competitive with Uber once the APM is running.

Also, you can put the tap card on your phone... no need to carry the physical card. I haven't used the card in 2 years... just tap the phone and go. Would still be better if they just allow you to tap your credit cards but it is vast improvement already. We are way ahead of some other US cities.

Whats the best way to save a few bucks if I need a transfer vom LAX to Anaheim?

In the past I took an Uber/Lyft from LAX-it, but the prices are insane at the moment!
Can I take a Shuttle to the RentalCar facility or to the Metro Transit Center and hail a Uber/Lyft there?
Would this save some money? Or is there even a better "trick"?

We will be with heavy luggage, so walking to a nearby location would be insufficient, and I am not feeling good to take a Hotel Shuttle without staying there.

Take the LAX-It shuttle then walk to the Hyatt across the street and request Uber/Lyft from there. I think that is outside the geofence so you should avoid the LAX surcharges. But probably still subject to surge pricing during peak demand periods.

I walk to In-N-Out before to request Uber and it is definitely outside the geofence.

Can you make it to the Norwalk Metro station on the green line with all that luggage? If so, take the 460 Metro bus from Norwalk to Disneyland. Or take Flyaway to LA Union station and then Metrolink to Anaheim at a higher cost but less hassle with one fewer transfer.

I don't think the small savings from the Metro Transit station will be enough to mitigate the eye watering Uber prices for longer distance rides like yours unless there is a surge at the airport.

also check one way rental car rates - quite often it ends but being cheaper than alternatives..

as for uber in the past i routinely had $60-80 quotes from hyatt or hertz lot vs 90-120 from laxit so quite noticeable savings.. havent done it recently though

How much might a rideshare be from Norwalk, approximately? The Flyaway to Metrolink could take forever depending on schedules. Norwalk to 460 is probably significantly faster
