For an off strip meal don't miss Marc's Restaurant. It is at the corner of Tenaya and Lake Mead. The food is fabulous and the service is even better. A new wine bar has recently opened there.

I would say this should be a general rule of thumb for all LV visitors. There are many, many fine restaurants off-strip. There is life away from the neon lights.

Restaurant Recommendation for 6

I'm looking for some good restaurant recommendations for a party of 6 on Saturday Aug 5th. I'm paying so I'd like the bill to be $1k or less.

I don't even know where to begin in terms of everyones "tastes" so a "something for everyone" type of thing would be nice.

It's going to be a sort-of wedding reception type thing, but nothing too crazy.

I've been all over all the sites and I'm just getting more confused. There's just so many good restaurants in Vegas now it's hard to figure out where to go. As usual, I'll turn to the enlightened here at FT.

Most of us are staying at the Wynn, so I don't know if that helps matters any.

Thanks!

I have not had a chance to sample restaurants at Wynn. My recommendations for general tastes would be:

Venetian:
Aquaknox-seafood (oyster bar too)
Bouchon-French

Caesars:
Bradley Ogden

MGM:
Seablue
Nobhill

If you want to include steakhouses Venetian's Delmonicos and MGM's Craftsteak are good choices.

It doesn't help at all, as you have zero chance of getting a nice meal for 6 at the Wynn for under $1K! But you knew that before booking the Wynn, that is part of it's schtick. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in LV these days, some quite good but the best are expensive. Maybe Craftsteak at the MGM is the best value and it tends to be very well run, outperforming its pay grade.

Here is the best restaurant in Vegas.....

That not many of the tourists know about....

For a very intimate dinner with excellent personalized service I would recommend Michael's at the Barbary Coast. It has been in business for decades and the food is fabulous. They have table side service and very attentive waiters. Dinner for six will use your entire budget but it will be a very memorable dinner. It is customary for only the person paying for the dinner to receive a menu with prices so your guests will have no idea what you are spending. Since everything is a'la carte it can get expensive.

Take a look at their web site. http://www.barbarycoastcasino.com/dining/michaels.php

Advance reservations are a must. Call direct to the maitre'd for your reservations rather than through the reservation service. That way you can tell him that it is your wedding reception. They may be able to provide a wedding cake if your bride would like that.

Might I suggest one of the three Andre Rochat restaurants in Las Vegas ,The original is in a stand-alone french country house near downtown, the one at the Palms(Alizze)has an outstanding view, and the one at the Monte Carlo is fancy schmancy.
I have a problem with Micheals-everytime the door to the restaurant opens you are reminded you are spending more money on a meal in LV than you would at home and you are still eating in a low roller casino.I have this problem with the Steakhouse at Circus2 and at the fancy place at the four queens also.
Michaels also has a lot of-"look at me!I am spending lots of money on a fancy dinner"types that can get really loud and obnoxious.
