Looks like the twice-weekly service to GRU remains (Wed, Sat), with fares kinda through the roof right now, at least in June.

Just got notified by EF that KLM has gutted the ATH schedule. Where there used to be 2-daily flights (12:15PM and 20:30PM from AMS, 06:00AM and 17:20PM from ATH) there is now a one-daily flight with totally different departure times.

Tue, Thu 06:35 AMS-ATH, 11:35 ATH-AMS
Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun 09:00 AMS-ATH, 14:00 ATH-AMS

So far only for June, seems to be the new temporary schedule till demand has been restored. Of course, that switch back to the regular schedule may shift back from July to August to later..

@ Xandrios, at least there is a daily flight from June onwards and if you look at the booking schedules from july onwards is the 2 x a day schedule. . I guess timing is selected to offer some connections as most from the4-6 daily longhair flights arrive early morning and leave somewhere 15h30 ( Mex/Lax etc) or 21-22h or so ( Gru/Sin). This schedule will offer most connections . But for sure will not be suitable for every passenger. Safe travels

May 4th sees the return of some european flights, all 1 x a day and operated with E 190 . currently only LIS/ARN AND CDG ARE OPERATED BY 737-700 LHR depending on booking
Destinations effected are FCO/MXP/PRG/BUD/MAD AND BCN . Flights to Italy can only be sold to max 50 % .
On a different note Alitalia, the new edition, will resume flights to AMS from Lin and FCO june 1st as it looks for the moment !

KLM Cargo will resume to EZE on may 8th . Some light at the end of the tunnel so to say. Fingers crossed.

The strongly reduced European network is configured to connect with as many flights as possible in the intercontinental network. Routes will gradually be reopened, but may change weekly, depending on measures being taken by the authorities at the destinations.

KLM's target for May is the resumption of 15% of its flights, compared to the period before the Covid-19 outbreak. A considerable number of the intercontinental flights are currently being operated on a cargo-only basis

Effective 4 May 2020, KLM will resume service one daily flight, seven days a week to the following destinations:
  • Barcelona
  • Madrid
  • Rome
  • Milan
  • Budapest
  • Prague
  • Warsaw
  • Helsinki

The flights will be operated with Embraer aircraft.

I am 72 years old. I took the KLM flight from LAX to Amsterdam on May 4th around noon. They not only assigned a girl to sit next to me and to share a single armrest, but an announcement on the loudspeaker said we were obligated to use the assigned seats. Luckily, the girl spotted an empty row of 3 seats further forward, and moved without permission, so I had all 3 seats for myself despite the order. That was a 10 1/2 hour flight. .

Very strange you had to share an armrest when there were two of you on a row of three?

We thought so too. The girl's reaction was "that's too close!" All the aisle seats were blocked so the crew would be further away from the passengers. That left only adjacent seats. No argument allowed.

Agree this is odd. I am glad you got the space you needed.

This is really weird...disgraceful on the part of the airline.

It's odd, but a direct consequence of KL's decision not to block middle seats, as many other airlines have done. Instead, they have blocked the aisle seats to keep the crew as far away from the passengers as possible (as if the crew are not safely ensconced in the galley or crew rest area for 99% of the flight), and to hell with "social" distancing rules for their paying customers.

Does this mean J cabin on the Embraers finally has the 'empty middle seat' or at at least empty adjacent seat as advertised (along with Y too).

Bolding is mine. Not so many airlines have implemented this, and you can expect most of them to reverse this decision sooner rather than later as we all know this model is not sustainable.
