Best Appreciated Veggie Dish?!?

Who made that one up?

Same one who made the King and Queen. Possibly a joker.

First world problems but being served a meal in J with sauce splattered all around the side of the plate really doesn't cut it...

Well . . .

The Wonderful Wanders Box has undergone a metamorphosis: it now looks (and no doubt is) cheaper, and the new elongated shape is impractical.

The contents, however, have unfortunately not metamorphosed at all, except that the butter now comes in a transparent tub.

And they still insist on serving that same old breakfast at lunchtime. Good thing I came prepared with a couple of wraps and a foccacia.

Jeez . . . .

Any recent examples of AMS-USA menus?

caliform Jul 14, 2021 12:15 pm

I went from AMS to USA and got a fairly 'standard' menu: a salmon tartare appetizer, 'Best Rated' veggie dish, a chicken in curry sauce and beef stew.

But the snacks are back to their glory days: the broodje kroket has returned!

The best enhancement is that the burger has been replaced with a chicken empanada which is not super big but SUPER tasty, and a veggie burger. Great move IMO, the empanada is much better than the fast food frozen burger attempt and I bet the veggie burger tastes better than the old beef burger.

Heard the following story from a colleague who flew GDN-AMS in Y.

Soon after the FA had distributed sandwiches and sachets with sanitizer gel, there was hullabaloo in the row behind her. Apparently the gents in those seats had somehow concluded that the sachets contained mayo, and proceeded to spread the contents over their sandwiches. Upon discovering their mistake, they expressed their dismay and disappointment rather forcefully (kurwa and ja pierdolę were the some of the mildest expressions used).

I wonder if they now have grounds for suing KLM.

Makes a change from the (in)famous Caesar, and tastes better than it looks. Nevertheless, it definitely belongs in the once is enough category.

The catering in business from KRK to AMS today was just awful, dreadful. Even economy wasn't this bad a few years ago. That Waldorf salad in the Marcel Woanders Box is inedible.

Takes that much to make you regret the Mexican salad :D

On the other hand, I was happily surprised by AF’s catering on the latest CDG BCN. Night and day compared to CDG AMS shameless snack.

Real silverware, and a glass on EU J. Definitely better than a Wanderbox

Some things don’t change: if you want mid range consistency, fly KL metal. For surprises (better or worse), fly AF.

It has been a few years I did not fly KLM in the rear class so I decided to sacrifice myself to report you guys about the food offered. Regarding the beverages, some juices, sodas and small bottles of wine were available but I did not risk it.

GRU-AMS, last weekend of July
No menu available, no choice offered: Just a greek salad, pasta with onions and a brownie.
Some sandwiches were given during the flight. I do no remember about a 2nd meal (maybe I was trying to get some sleep at that time).

AMS-GRU this weekend
No menu available, choice between pasta and meat: coleslaw salad, I chose the veggie pasta and a piece of apple pie.
2nd meal was a warm "panini-pizza" with pasta salad and carrot cake.

Honestly, the overall quality was OK (is it difficult to mess up with pasta ??).
But for 11h30 flights, I found it very cheap and poor in quantity.

No, not at all. Any pasta dish can be screwed up in very short time and almost without effort. Indeed, just doing nothing for a few minutes will often suffice to do the trick.

KLM short haul in the past has managed to mess up pasta (incredibly sweet) and thai noodles (incredibly salty). Better to just stick with the cheese sandwich. Or does anyone have any first hand evidence about messed up sandwiches too? ;)
