Interesting news on the slot swap front this afternoon/evening. The DoT has denied the swap plans of DL/US that would have seen B6 pick up 5 pairs from US. These are separate from the 8 pairs that were negotiated in the AA deal, but it seems that B6 needs 9 pairs to operate their proposed November 1 schedule. It will be interesting to see what happens if this cannot be resolved. I also wonder if there are really four more pairs out there looking for some utilization.

The DOT rejected the second proposal from US/DL but approved the original. The are still going to give up slots at DCA and LGA but the stipulation is that the slots must be auctioned off blindly. The 2 carriers can't specify who gets what.

And the DoT never approved the original deal. They sent down conditions on it and have not approved the counter-offer from the airlines. The original proposal from DL/US was a direct swap with nothing given up.

Well, that's what the DoT is saying. DL and US are going to court to try to get the negotiated deal approved anyways.

B6 is next announced DCA-JFK or LGA
Hi All,
I hear a rumors where B6 will next announce DCA-JFK or LGA. If there is possible to get more extra slots into DCA or LGA. So let's find out tomorrow where B6 will next announce to acquiriing more slots into DCA. Just speculate about this one for DCA-LGA or JFK to be complete DL shuttle & US shuttle.
Regards

I would be shocked to hear this happening. They'd need slots at both ends and there is no one giving up that access at LGA nor are they going to sacrifice profitable flights at JFK. Business folks aren't going to pay the Shuttle premium fares out of JFK so no way to make those flights as profitable.

I would have to go with sbm12 on this one. Look what happened with the JFK-IAD flights. That route is down to just 2 flights per day after starting with 8 per day (IIRC). If that's the case, why would LGA work and not JFK?

Yes, could be. If they done it very well. You will find out soon enough from B6 will have another new routes to be announced. I'm pretty sure about this one. I think it will have be consider to start nonstop LGA-DCA due to too much competitive against DL, AA, US has already exists service. I cannot have to supports more than three airlines has already existing service from LGA-DCA frequency. I know it was too overcrowded. It was lots of business traveler who is likely to take on the trip to DCA for everyday.

LGA-DCA is a different market than JFK-IAD but even still, the competition would be brutal and the slots at either end WAY too valuable for JetBlue to try a NYC shuttle service.

not a smart idea to start DCA-LGA (if it's even possible). they'd get crushed by the hourly frequencies that US and DL already offer.
if they could get a perimeter slot (doubtful), then that's what they should go for. a DCA-LGB flight would be interesting, as would be DCA-OAK.
personally, i think the perimeter rule is a joke. the residents complaining about additional jet noise, yet 757s and a321s are run into DCA daily.

Also, don't forget that US and DL have better FF programs for business travelers as well as lounges.
