Rewards Club at Kimpton Hotels Experience Thread 2021

This thread is about the experience in Hotels of the Kimpton Chain according to your Rewards Club Status. Usually this would include Kimpton Hotels as well. However, Rewards Club Spire Members receive additional amenities as Kimpton Hotels, which are listed in the Experience IHG Rewards Club section and include

Booked Essential (basic) and was upgraded to Premium, with prior email communications
How are the rooms?
Spacious and nice looking but not so user friendly. The room was not bad by all means, just that some of the features may be more about plastic art than function.

Fruit platter and hand-written card for Spire; a bottle of San Pellegrino and a few nougat bars for the secret password.
Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take?
Yes, 2 drinks at the hotel bar (The Botanist), combinable with the 15% discount for Spire.
Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive?
N/A
Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value?

What was good and what was bad?
The location is unbeatable, right at the intersection of two metro lines (near Zhongxiao Fuxing), yet the hotel is situated in a rather tranquil corner, making it a gem. Staff here really took the effort to remember every guest's needs by heart, and we felt well pampered overall. Ethan deserves an honourable mention for his impeccable service aptitude. Although there were some small issues in the communications prior to our stay, the hotel was quick to offer recovery, and it was overall trivial considering the otherwise great service provided. The attentive service and the sociable atmosphere at the lobby made up for the not-so-user-friendly room design.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
By taking the advantage of a flash sale and the subsidy given by Taipei City government for Taiwanese domestic travellers, the rate was quite affordable. I may return if there is another deal.

It was ok.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Room on points. The room was tiny. The bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom itself. I asked about an upgrade, since there was lots of availability, but I had apparently already been upgraded, and they were "full".

How are the rooms?
Pleasant enough, but too small. The beds are excellent, and the bathroom amenities were nice, but that's where it ends.

What was good and what was bad?

Good: Warm and friendly staff, beautiful, historic property.
Bad: Bar and restauarant closed. No realistic upgrade, despite extensive availability. Social Hour was limited to a single drink per guest.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Represents poor value on either a paid stay or points, IMO. A decent upgrade in an empty hotel would have perhaps made up for almost all the hotel facilities being closed. Since I usually stay at the IC PL, I wanted to try this property to compare, and to stay in a different location. You'd think they would try to engage with potential customers, to show what they can do, but this clearly wasn't a consideration. The Social Hour, with a single drink per guest, was simply an embarrassment. I can't see myself returning.

What is your Rewards Club status? Spire Elite and Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Chase credit card free night award stay for a Spa King followed by an Ambassador BOGO cert for a Studio Spa Suite. Decided to buy up to the Everly Suite for $200 for all three nights.

How are the rooms? An Everly Suite is on the corner of the hotel facing the 101 with great views of the Hollywood sign and the Griffiths Park Observatory. We were assigned an ADA room so the layout was very odd; what would be the living room was made into the bedroom and the bedroom was the living room. This meant you entered into the bedroom and the living room accessed the bathroom. Likely, this was because the bedroom is too narrow to allow proper clearance for mobility-challenged guests. The large soaking tub was replaced with a slightly smaller and lower tub. Otherwise, it was nice to have the extra room.

What was good and what was bad? Overall, it was a good stay and very relaxing. Rooms and furnishings are starting to show a little wear.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? The lack of a resort fee is a plus and being able to redeem a free night cert was an unexpected bonus. The BOGO rate was reasonable and I felt I received a good return for the portion of my reservation that I had to pay for.
