How to post to this thread

How to post

1. Do not use the "Reply with Review Button" but the regular one

2. Put the name of the hotel in the title of the post and the thread

3. Use the following format by extracting it, ie by using "reply quoting", copying the content into memory, then backing out of "reply quoting" and then pasting the copied content into a new post. Each line is formatted so that you can paste in between them having deleted these opening comments:

----

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

How are the rooms?

How is the exec. lounge?

What was good and what was bad?

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

The links to each reports in the posts above will cover all of 2020.

Maintenance Schedule
Links to reports between January 2019 and March 2019 will be deleted after April 01, 2021 --> Dec 31, 2021
Links to reports between Aprill 2019 and June 2019 will be deleted after July 01, 2021 --> Dec 31, 2021
Links to reports between July 2019 and September 2019 will be deleted after October 01, 2021 --> Dec 31, 2021
Links to reports between October 2019 and December 2019 will be deleted after December 20, 2021 --> Dec 31, 3021

With this approach I hope to get a balance between the requests to have also older post in this thread and those requesting only to have newer up-to-date posts.
Given the current situation, I may delay the deletion of older post till the end of the year.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
> Booked 1-night "Club InterContinental King" (during a 3-day flash sale in early 2020).
Hotel cancelled the booking a 2 days before the stay as they had converted into a quarantine hotel. Hotel offered to honour the rate for a new booking later in the year.

> Rebooked some months later after they reopened - but after booking hotel confirmation email informed us that almost all the hotel facilities were closed and the only a few rooms above the bar were actually available so we cancelled.

> Rebooked near the end of the year albeit into an "Club Deluxe" Room (at the time we didn't realise this was a different category from the "Club InterContinental King" what we had originally booked)
Booked 3 nights (2x Cash in Club, 1x IHG Credit Card Night Voucher without Club).

> At Check-In received an 'upgrade' to a "Club Grande Deluxe" room.

How are the rooms?
Felt too narrow, dark and crampt; overall floor size described as larger than regular rooms, but most of the space seemed to be given to the bathroom; one window on the side of the wall didn't help.
It was nice having a desk behind the sofa, both in front of the TV, but besides this the room felt like it had been squeezed into the remaining space on that floor.
Small table for a duffle bag, but nowhere to put a normal sized suitcase without blocking the floor area.
Room was fairly quiet until the third day when people in the adjoined room arrived.
Room could have done with a better clean - dusty ceiling lights where the dust dropped each time the door was open/closed creating a sneezing frenzy and previous occupants rubbish found in the desk draw.
Light switches in the room were quite rubbish as they often didn't work or would come on without asking (especially the switch for the bathroom light).

How is the exec. lounge?
Nice decor and very attentive staff; service was table based like an afternoon tea; not allowed to get your drinks.
Food was nice but heavy on the sweets (not many savouries).
A few children in the lounge; generally well-behaved at first but got a bit noisy on some days (seemed like some staycationers were hanging out in the lounge all day like a creche).

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Staff in the lounge were good; same staff managed the Club-corner of the restaurant during breakfast service. Reception staff let us keep the same room for the third night depsite it being on a IHG Credit Card Night Voucher which is usually restricted to booking Heritage Rooms.

Bad: Not really sure if we got an upgrade or downgrade (should really be obvious shouldnt it?) - the room certainly felt like a downgrade based on previous rooms I have stayed in. Quite annoying given cash prices for Club Deluxe, Club King and Club Heritage were all the same at the time.
Felt like the service had been changed from the regular offering for international travellers to local staycations; might be welcomed by Staycationers but not really up to scratch for my expectation particular given the prices being charged.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
No; whilst the staff in the Club Lounge were good, the rest of the hotel was lacking service and felt like they'd overdone the penny pinching. Plenty of other alternative places to stay these days

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
I book room king bed, I get king bed in high floor. Everting room are same, not offer upgrade to junior suite. In lobby says that hotel have some remodeling in some room.
How are the rooms?
Renew, the carpet was removed and the bathroom remodeled. For IC standard are too small
How is the exec. lounge?
closed. The excuse is the hotel is remodeling but in the lounge are not working . I think is closed for low occupancy and you want to reduce costs
What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Reduce price for room
-Restaurant for meals all can you it.
- very spacious common areas
Bad:
-noise throughout the day from remodeling. it is annoying if you want to rest in the day. Include saturday
-Lounge closed
- it was not recognized Ambassador members.
- for business hotel, the breakfast open late at 6:30 am
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
the price of night are too cheaper 100/ night plus tax.
For me is better spend my next stay in Crown plaza San Salvador where have lounge open.

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Ambassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
1 King Club Heritage, upgraded to Ambassador Suite (This stay was part of a service recovery from the previous stay - the hotel promised to upgrade me to the Ambassador Suite should I book an entry-level Club room)
How are the rooms?
Really spacious, with a huge living room, private work area (with a TV monitor). Bathrooms were a little old though. No minibar or welcome amenities.
How is the exec. lounge?
Good; with Breakfast, High Tea, and Evening Cocktails held at the Club Intercontinental Lounge. One of the better IC Lounges in my opinion.
What was good and what was bad?
Good: Comp Upgrade to Ambassador Suite, very good service. Bad: No complimentary parking (need to pay $20/stay); No minibar or welcome amenities. Aircon vents were not working in the private work area within the Ambassador Suite
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Very value for $. Burned the Ambassador BOGO Certificate, and with the recent 2k points for 2 nights promo, racked up 11,000 points for this stay.

What is your IHG status?
Spire Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Studio Suite using BOGOF and received One Bedroom Suite, then for the second night, a Mayfair Suite due to an issue with our neighbours.

How are the rooms?
One Bed Suite is the same as always, perhaps a little bit dated, but clean and nice enough. Mayfair Suite, newly remodelled. Bathroom now smaller to allow for larger living area. High-end finishes and decor.

How is the exec. lounge?
Not open until June

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Issue with neighbours handled quickly and professionally.
Bad: Third bed for child not already in room, despite mentioning in the reservation. "Confirmed" again by email, but still not there.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Decent value on BOGOF, though lacks value without Lounge access, but will return in the future.
