Kimpton Hotel Palomar San Diego

What is your Rewards Club status?
Spire Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Generally happy due to staff and rooms, but member recognition was lacking this particular stay.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked: Deluxe 1 King Bed
Upgraded: Skyline View 1 King bed

How are the rooms?
Love the rooms here — modern, bright and airy. This is my second stay here. Prior to the pandemic, I was upgraded into Skyline Suite with two balconies on opposite sides of the building which was amazing.

[If you are Spire and Inner Cricle]
How was your complimentary welcome amenity?

Did not receive one. (Prior to the pandemic I had received a fruit plate and wine). I didn't even bring this up because it was apparent the hotel was short-staffed and managing the best they could due to the pandemic.

Did you raid the minibar? If so, what did you take?
Minibars in-room no longer offered. They had a minibar of sorts set up in the lobby where you could pick from beverages. Only food I could see was a bag of M&Ms. No restaurant was open the night I was there. I was unclear how to utilize this beneft (since I had already received a choice of beverage as my Secret Password gift) so they offered to remove the $28 Daily Amenity Fee, which I graciously accepted.

Were you offered a Chef's Taste at Dinner, If so, what did you receive?
N/A

Did you use the free spa credit / did the hotel participate? If so, was it a good value?
I wanted to use the spa credit for an in-room massage, but they had discontinued the spa services due to the pandemic.

What was good and what was bad?
The good: The rooms and views are great. Front desk staff and management were great, with the hotel at full capacity they were dealing with a lot under pressure, and difficult and demanding guests. The location is great, close to Gaslamp and restaurants.
The bad: Lack of Rewards Club Recognition on this visit.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Value for cash stay has been fantastic both this visit and last visit.
