I know this is a little OT but just to elaborate what markis10 is saying. Next week I am using 123,238 QF points to earn 680 SC's and 22,150 points. ie effective cost 101,088 QF points.
It's not a ususal benefit of PC or PP. |

Nice, but again I point out that the 680 Qantas SCs is due to the targeted and limited double SC offer made by Qantas to some Qantas FF members.
It's not a ususal benefit of PC or PP. I am not sure what you want people to say here. This was simply used as an example of how things can happen and of how points can be used. There was never a suggestion by anyone that this was a totally normal situation. Yes it was targeted as are many promotions that all the various award schemes run. It does not make then any less useful to the percentage of people who get them. Having said that the double SCs is irrelevant in any case. The example was one of how PP can earn extra PC points, which it does, and how these can help with QF status and they do. I really cannot see the problem other than a few people arguing for the sake of arguing. Ignore the double Scs and use my numbers from post #357 and I still get 340 Scs from 101,088 points. regards, Bill |

Well said Bill, just because I was targeted by QF for double SCs has nothing to do with the fact I was able to use my PC Points for status, it just added to the value which was the point of using them in the first place. Some of you doubted what I was saying was possible, I have provided further information to prove that it is and I know Bill is also routing a flight on the same route to take advantage of the value. To put it in another context, with PP I average 50-60 nights a year at ICHG because it gets the rates below what is the maximum for my company to pay, I average $150 or less regardless of whether I stay at HI, CP or IC. I know for a fact I would not have been able to use a ICHG hotel on at least 50% of the occasions I did without the PP program because the rates were too high for entertainment card/AA etc which I am also entitled to. I could have used family and friends to achieve similar rates but no points! So I get the hotel I want, more often than not a suite, my company is happy with the rate I pay (in fact I often get a "how did you get it that low" question) and I get lots of points, which in this case I was able to use after banking them to convert them to a stack of SCs for QF that take me back to Plat for the first time in two years. Earlier this week I had the best room in the house for $139 a night at the HI Townsville, paid $19 for breakfast for 2 each day and also got two free glasses of wine with dinner as part of the PP program! Pretty good value for $209 if you take out the $50 credit and the little nomads discount :). |

Austman,
There was never a suggestion by anyone that this was a totally normal situation. Just for reasons of clarity it probably should have been mentioned. By the way, I got targeted too and am off to Nadi (and the IC Natadola) the week after next. |

I agree (I think :)). Does it ship in less than 10 business days in your experience?

I think that was the issue. There was no mention in the beginning about the double SC's limited and targeted promo. I read the posts a few times and thought that it was a totally normal situation - one that I didn't understand.

Yes but you are also in the hands of Aus Post, if it gets tight you can ask them to fax a voucher to the hotel directly, which I have done in the past. If you want to use it at NAN check the specials, and make sure you have ambassador membership, 25K of points for a two night stay at the IC in Fiji until July 30:
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/interco...0-bonus-points Note that the 25K bonus offer must be booked under that rate and thus would not permit using either the PP BOGO or 10% or 15% discount cert rates. Possibly only the Ambassador BOGO would trigger this bonus since those stays post as a normal 2-night stay. PP BOGO stays tend to post with either the first or second night as a non-qualifying stay, the remaining night as a single night stay. |

Just to follow up on my experience:
I did, of course, request a refund when they would not honour their salesdroid's promises. Their customer service people emailed back promptly, saying that "someone will attend to your inquiry within two working days". Then, when you hear nothing more and ask again, they give you the 2 working days answer again. And so on. Basically, they make you keep prodding them. They said "a Program Manager will be in contact with you shortly", but it never happened. There was an "if you have not been contacted by the 4th June 2010, please contact Priority Privilege Member Services". Of course, I heard nothing more, so had to contact them yet again. Once they say they are ready to do the refund, you still have to contact them again to give credit card details, as they don't store them. (Yet they say you must give them the same credit card! How can they tell, if they really have destroyed the details?) In short, you have to contact them about half a dozen times and it takes over 2 weeks. |
Every single time I have recommended a friend (4 now), I have had to phone (sometimes twice) and remind PP to send me the 'thank you' bottle of wine voucher . This is despite my friends advising them I was the one who recommended them!
I wonder how many people just dont follow it up thus saving them $$$. :td: |
