Do I " consume " a room night when I check-in, check-out, or do I need to do both in order to " consume " the room ?
In order to "consume" a room night I believe you have to eat some of the furniture.

Seriously though, I don't know. The terms are fairly vague in some respects. Maybe IHG does that on purpose but with all the blunders (with the terms) at the release of this promo, I would say it is just poor verbage. Could be someone fresh out of law school trying to be fancy with the wording...I"m not impressed.

Some people here say you have to wait and see...when people post back with results -- but by then it will be too late. Too bad we can't get an IHG rep to answer some of these simple but yet important questions. You would think that an IHG rep would be right here in the mix, great PR, jump on the issues, get everyone motivated for the Big Win II. But our many posts seem to fall on deaf IHG ears. Prove me wrong IHG.

Oh the same lines as above, if I check in before December 31st and stay way way past Jan 1st, thereby qualifying me for some of my challenges in the BIG WIN 2014, will it be considered..?? or do I need to check out and check in again after Jan 1st ??

Flyfromscratch, check in and check out, just to be safe. I believe they go by check-in date.

Targets seem rather high to me but better than 2013

Targets are essentially the same as they were for the 2013 promo.

2013 looks like I will make it, but just by coincidence. One of the milestones there was 4 nights in hotels in London, Germany, Amsterdam, Paris, Spain. Now nobody in their right mind would book a trip just because of the promo, but if you happen to be going it's nice. But it's highly unfair. I note this milestone is gone -- but replacing it is a "stay 5 nights in a Holiday Inn" -- now I'm a primarily IC stayer, so this is just insulting. I also note that you can win the overall bonus if you hit just 6 out of the 7 offers, which is a great idea.

I wish they went back to a simpler promotion.

Here are my targets:
* Stay more and earn - Stay a total of 43 nights and earn 31,600 points
* Explore our brands - Stay at 6 different IHG brands and earn 22,400 points
* Survey the win - Complete a simple survey and earn 100 points
* Win in a weekend - Stay 8 Saturday nights and earn 12,800 points
* Spend it to get it - Book and pay for 1 stay with your IHG® Rewards Club credit card and receive 1,500 points.
* Change your view - Stay at 5 Holiday Inn® hotels and earn 7,200 points
* Authentic experiences - Stay at 10 InterContinental® Hotels and Resorts and earn 28,800 points.
* Win big - Complete 6 of your offers and earn 36,000 points
I guess it's a 140,000 point promotion, so better than your average double mile or 1000 mile per night kind of promo. But still a bit of a pain.

Darn.. that's something I can't do.. Im in a hotel in Texas and if I my stay is less than 30 days, I will have to pay 15% tax on my stay.. that's hefty

Or "devour" the contents of the mini-bar ! Good to hear that I am not the only one that finds "consume" to be a slightly odd word to use in relation with hotel stays.

In Post # 347 of The Big Win Fall 2013 thread Carolyn posting as IHGRewardsClub states;

" So long as your stay either starts OR ends during the promotional period, your stay will count towards the promotion. Both of the examples below will count.
Ex: Check-in August 29th & Check-out September 1st
Ex: Check-in December 30th & Check-out January 3rd "

If this information is correct then one could infer that a stay with check-in on or before December 31st and check-out on or after January 1st would count for BOTH the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Big Win promotions.

I would be surprised if this is what IHG intends, but in the absence of any official clarification who knows !

Seems very very easy. Although its a little confusing regarding the 4 IHG and 2 holiday inn brands. Seems redundant.

I am also platinum I stayed 48 nights in IHG hotels this year.

you have a terribly bad promotion!

are you sure it says "two holiday inn brands"? isn't it "two HI hotels"?

Actually 100k is almost three weeks at an IC, if you get it on PB's.

I am very happy with my challenge. The one last fall was not doable but this one allows me to skip one and that will be the Saturday night stays. I can meet the other six elements in 5 well chosen stays for 80,000 points.

Most of my travel is rural Midwest but sometimes includes a bigger city like Grand Rapids where I can pick up a Crowne Plaza or Staybridge. In Jan am going to DC so staying at an IC. Then my usual HIX and HI stays will allow me to meet the challenge since I only need 3 brands.

I think mine is doable

Stay 6 nights - 8,800
3 different IHG Brands- 17,600
1 Stay flexible rate with breakfast- 2,000
2 Saturday nights-4,800
book 3 stays using mobile app- 5,600
2 Holiday inn's- 8,000
2 Intercontinentals- 9,600
Big Win-24,000
Total- 80,400
I like the way they mesh, a stay in a holiday inn on a Saturday night with a flexible rate with breakfast booked from my mobile app will get me a lot of traction!

If we look at last quarters Big Win, the IHG representative here told us that yes, such stays would count. But he/she was wrong and they did not.

I've now pre-registered, too and had a look at my conditions. Not too bad.
I've managed to score the Big Win this quarter and I guess I will do it again.
Last time I had to book two additional Saturday nights at a cheap rate, more than worth it.
This time I will probably not have to do that as I can skip one challenge.
Here are my conditions (last quarter // new quarter) - the "y" at the end of each line means I have fulfilled the new condition last quarter already, so for instance 2 brands were required then and I already did 4 brands, which is exactly the new requirement.

Try one - 1,000 // Help you on your way - 2x Crowne Plaza - 7,200 y
Stay more & earn more - 5 nights - 6,700// 12 nights - 11,200 y
Explore our brands - 2 brands - 12,000 // 4 brands - 19.200 y
Book at IHG.com - 2x - 4,000 // Start the day off right - 1x - 2,000 easy extra 2014
Share your opinion - 100 // Survey the win - 100 y
Live the city life - 2 cities - 12,000 // 2x (same cities, other hotels) - 9,600 y
Stay on the weekend - 2x - 8,000 // Win in a weekend - 2x - 8,000 extra 2013
Win big - 7 of 7 - 44,000 // 6 of 7 - 23,000 y
Total: 87,700 // Total: 80,300

What I will need to do is to favour IHG brands over other hotel brands in most of my stays, and that's exactly the purpose of a loyalty program, isn't it?

Uggh - Best Flexible Rate with Breakfast

Mine was going to be easy except the one bolded below. I already get free breakfast most the time and I just checked 8 hotels in the area I frequent and none offer the flexible and breakfast rate. They all have the best flexible. Ugggh, both the wife and mine both have that stipulation.

Stay a total of 4 nights and receive 8,000 POINTS
Stay at 2 different IHG brands and receive 16,000 POINTS
Book 2 separate stays through an IHG® hotel website or mobile device to get our best price guarantee and receive 3,200 POINTS
Stay 2 Saturday nights and receive 8,000 POINTS
Stay at 2 Holiday Inn Express® hotels and receive 8,000 POINTS
Stay at 2 Holiday Inn® hotels and receive 8,000 POINTS
Book 1 stays through the Best Flexible Rate with Breakfast and receive 2,000 POINTS
Complete 7 of your offers and receive 53,000 POINTS
