Departure lounges
Iberia Premium Lounge Dalí
Located in T4 immediately after security at Level 2, if departing or connecting to Schengen, IB operated London bound flights (A330/A350 excluded) or domestic flights: it is a decent lounge with free food, drinks and showers. Open 06:00 to 23:00.

Iberia Premium Lounge Velázquez
Open daily 06:00 to 01:00

Located in T4S (Zone "S") at Level 1 at the edge of the duty free store. Open 24 hours, for departures to non-Schengen and long haul flights; self-serve food, drinks, wine bar (Rincón del vino), restaurant w/ limited hours, targeted to departing intercontinental overnight Iberia flyers.

Lunch buffet 14:00 – 16:30, Dinner 21:00 onwards, Bistro 21:00 - 00:30

When you exit the lounge and make your way to your departure gate, veer left through the duty free store. You can use Starbucks as a visual cue. If you veer right, you will end up in a cul-de-sac.

Arrivals lounge
Sala de Llegadas
Located in the main T4 arrivals hall at level -1. The lounge is equipped with showers and a breakfast room.

This is not a oneworld lounge. Access is provided free of charge to business class passengers who have arrived on an Iberia operated flight of more that 4 hours. Iberia Plus Platinum, Gold, and Singular members may also use the lounge provided they have also arrived on an Iberia operated flight of more than 4 hours. Paid entrance is also available

Lounge hopping
Terminal 4 and 4S are joined by a subterranean train; it is unlikely to lounge hop as the gatekeepers are rather strict about using the appropriate lounge.

I did use it twice this year, it is open I think as late as 9 p.m. and there is no menu. What they do is to bring you food from the outside buffet but nicely plated. Waiter was always very clear about it. So you get same food, that you can take yourself outside the restaurant, but served by waiter in more quiet environment. Only difference there was a soup/consommé available prior to the main, which I do not recall being available outside the restaurant.

They do prepare food, but only for dinner time (which in Spain starts at around 9 PM). This is for the midnight departures to Latin America.

I thought the LAX service leaves close to midday not midnight? I'm often on the late MAD service out and there are usually only about 5 service eligible for this meal, SCL, EZE, GRU, LIM and MEX.

Since the buffet food is only tortilla, mushrooms, salad and ice cream, the dining area does have a menu with a few more items on it than that. It's a lot darker than the photo above, they run it in fairly subdued lighting.

The buffet food area gets a lot more extensive with a fairly reasonable hot food selection, but again doesn’t appear until 2100-2130. Maybe it’s this food served in the restaurant section?

The T4S lounge has hot food between roughly 1400-1630.

For a restaurant with good food, go into town, with 7 hours.

T4, EU side lounge.
I will flying overnight from CX to MAD and take afternoon outbound IB flight to ZRH, first time transit at MAD. I thinking book a half day hotel room in near town for some rest, but deducted border control, security check and transportation time, total rest time maybe just 4-5hrs, so finding a good restaurant in Terminal should be best way to spend during transit.

But seems restaurant choice in MAD is limited, and good idea to spend transit time?

You will have more than enough time to take the train / metro, have a nice lunch in a restaurant in Madrid, and go back.

I have a connection at MAD.
Will by flying BIO-MAD on IB423 and connecting to LHR on BA467. I believe I will land in T4 and connect to T4S.

Will I be able to use the lounge at T4 when I get off my flight?
I ask this because my wife will also be flying IB423 and connecting onto QR, and I wish to join her in the lounge.

Since you will both be leaving from T4S, it would make more sense to go to the lounge in T4S. Generally speaking you can use the other lounge but the lounge agent will probably point out that you are a good 20 minutes from your departure terminal gate and so encourage you to go to the correct lounge. This assumes you are flying business class or have status.

I believe all non-Schengen flights from T4 use T4S.

Not quite. All BA, IB widebody and the foreign non Schengen carriers, but Iberia themselves have a lot of non-Schengen from the H gates at one end of T4 (A320 family). I’ve done DUB and LHR every time from the main T4 when flying IB 320s.

As a general rule, all non-Schengen is from T4S, and all Schengen is from T4.

IB flies to the UK, Ireland and Croatia from T4 proper, assuming narrowbody aircraft. EI too. All other non-Schengen is T4S, including BA.

A very small number of Schengen flights leave from T4S (M gates), but in thatcase you would use the lounge in T4.

If I booked an award longhaul flight into MAD in Business, would I be able to access the lounge on a revenue Economy shorthaul ticket later the same day?

I know Oneworld rules permit access with such scenarios on one ticket, but I am not sure if it would be allowed on 2 separate tickets.
