Update in Hyatt BRG policy (April 2019): If your BRG claim is approved, you can choose either 5,000 World of Hyatt points or an additional 20% off the matched rate for your stay (defined as consecutive nights at the same location). Rates available on websites that require membership which is free of charge, or where membership is automatically created as part of the booking, are eligible for BRG claims.

Update in Hyatt BRG policy (July 2017): if your BRG claim is approved, Hyatt will match the comparable lower rate, but will no longer offer a further 20% discount on the matched lower rate. Instead, after your stay on the BRG approved rate, you will receive a US$50 credit (or equivalent amount in the currency of your country of residence) to use on a future stay (completed within 12 months) booked on a Standard Rate, Advance Purchase Rate or Member Rate on Hyatt.com.
Q. How do I receive the $50 credit?
A. About 3-4 days after your BRG stay, Hyatt will email you a unique rate code to apply for your new reservation. You can either click on the link in the mail to book the reservation or manually enter it into the booking at Hyatt.com.
Q. Can I use the code more than once?
A. No. The code is invalid when it has already been attached to a reservation.
Q. Can I use the code to lower a rate like AAA or Double Points?
A. No. The BRG code books into its own unique rate class and can't be used with any other promotional rates.
Q. What happens if I cancel my reservation with the BRG code applied?
A. The code will can be re-used for another reservation. For this reason, DO NOT DELETE THE EMAIL FROM HYATT UNTIL AFTER YOUR STAY.
Q. What happens if a lower base rate appears available after I book the BRG rate?
A. You can cancel the first reservation (assuming there's no penalty) and then rebook using the code for the lower rate.
.................................................. ..........
If you are dissatisfied with the response to your BRG claim, and it was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Omaha (9805 Q Street), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office (Consumer Protection Division). Note that the online complaint form requires you to fill in a correspondence address in the US (though you can state a preference to receive correspondence by e-mail rather than by post). As reported in Post # 2691, if the AG's Office decides to investigate, it is possible that Hyatt will review your BRG claim again and, in addition, offer points for the inconvenience.
If your BRG claim was processed by the Hyatt Service Desk in Marion (1120 North Carbon Street Suite 70), you can consider filing a consumer complaint (link to online form) with the Illinois Attorney General's Office.

There is no need in this case for Hyatt to convert MXN into USD$ because the conversion is done by selecting USD$ on the Competitive Site (hoteles.com).
I agree "it is unacceptable to receive different responses from different CSRs" and you should not have had to call back but the information you received from
the third CSR was correct.

Tried to do a BRG for the HR Cincinnati but it was rejected since the rate online (Travelocity, Kayak, Expedia, etc.) changed overnight. I wish Hyatt would bring back BRG claims by phone so I don't have to worry about rate changes taking place overnight.

IMO, this is why we are providing Hyatt with a screenshot of the rate. I am not sure why they request the screenshot if it is not of any use.

Is there a hyatt.com BRG that can be compared to tablethotels.com?
At the Park Hyatt Tokyo, they offer:
Complimentary upgrade upon hotel check-in, based upon availability
Guaranteed 4pm check-out
Complimentary daily continental breakfast per guest (max 2 guests), a value of 3000 JPY (approx $35US) per per person per day.
Complimentary access to 'Club on the Park' spa facilities for up to 2 persons during the entire stay (a value of 4200 JPY per person per stay- Approx $50US)
for around $400.00 per night plus the 22% tax. I would book two rooms if I could get the 20% off to cover the tax and service charges.
Any ideas?

It was only when I used an independent online currency conversion table converting pesos to $$ was the savings realized.
FWIW....I took a screen shot of the currency conversion website as well sending that as documentation to my claim.

In my experience when I used the Mexican Hotel.com website conversion from pesos to dollars it gave me a much more expensive rate, closer to what the US site was showing in $$....and not a true pesos to dollars conversion.

This is the exact same thing I did and was attempting to explain to customer service. So funny that yours was immediately approved!

I think it is great that you got finally the BRG....it is worth the hassle in savings. It is just too bad there seems to be so much inconsistency in the results.

In all honesty I am not sure it was " immediate"....I think I had to do a little follow-up with a second screen shot. ( They couldn't open the first)

I'm not completely following the ins and outs of the currency conversion arguments. However, the majority of my BRGs are for Australian hotels against websites that quote in non-AUD. Each and every time I change the currency display on Hyatt to whatever the competing site is displaying and compare that way. That is, rather than changing the competing website to AUD (to match the default rates (home currency) displayed on Hyatt), I change the display on Hyatt to whatever the competing site is displaying.
I've never been denied because of the reasons I think suite2suite is outlining. That said, it may well be because the competing rates I'm finding are in currencies that Hyatt displays. InIherebyresign's case, Hyatt doesn't display the rate in MXN by default but it seems it is possible to select rates in MXN if you wish.

More frustration with Hyatt BRG.
It should be a slam dunk no issues BRG. Rate at the Grand Hyatt Berlin is 159.20 euros on hotels.com (flexible) and 179.10 euros (prepaid) and 199 euros (flexible) on hyatt.com (both before my claim yesterday and now again).
Was told that Grand Hyatt offer a rate of 157.50 euros, except I can't find it anywhere on hyatt.com. I even ran searches using a VPN from various different locales.
I understand it's part of the game where the competing rate can sometimes disappear overnight, but changing the hyatt rate for a few minutes to deny a BRG claim?

Is it paranoia if they really are out to get you? Been monitoring a rate differential for a few weeks but hadn't booked as it was a prepaid rate and wasn't 100% sure of movements.
So finally decided to make a BRG Claim - sent off the screenshot and the form - and in the time it took to process the rates on hyatt and the booking site which had been at the same different rates for at least three weeks suddenly became the same. Claim denied. What was the point of the screenshot if it isn't even accepted as evidence?
