Closure of Mendoza Airport

Aerolineas Argentinas and Austral inform that the International Airport of the City of Mendoza - El Plumerillo (MDZ) "Governor Francisco Gabrielli", will be closed from September 7 to December 7 inclusive, 2016 due to runway maintenance works.

Due to this situation and as an alternative, Aerolineas Argentinas will offer to make the trip to/from the nearest airports: San Juan (UAQ), San Luis (LUQ) and San Rafael (AFA).

Passengers will be able to have free access to a complementary shuttle service connecting the three airports with the Mendoza Bus Station.

Date change

a) Passengers who wish to bring their trip forward, will have 1 (one) free change, only once, from August 7, 2016 to September 6, 2016.

b) Passengers who wish to postpone their trip, will have 1 (one) free change, only once, to travel from December 8 to December 22, 2016 (complete trip) as maximum term.

For both cases, it should be kept the same cabin, as originally issued.

If the passenger wishes to travel on dates other than the established schedule (one-way and/or return), he/she may do so only by paying the fare difference, if applicable, and respecting the air ticket validity.

Route change

1 (one) free route change, only once to alternative airports in San Juan, San Luis and San Rafael will be allowed. Otherwise must be paid only the fare difference if applicable.

Returns

The return of the ticket with no deduction or penalty is authorized.

It was also suggested to change dollars at the airport, although this is something I almost never do. When we were last in Argentina (Feb 2020) ATMs would limit withdrawals to something like $50 US-equivalent and with a $10 fee - not ideal.

Back on-topic: I've stayed at this property twice and was upgraded to the Presidential Suite both times. Hoping for a third...
How did it go? Did you get the upgrade? How did the payment pan out for you (in the Hyatt but also overall in Argentina)?

Just got a call from the front desk manager on WhatsApp. They screwed up my 6 night suite upgrade but are giving me the presidential for 3 nights and reg king room for three. I leave for airport in 2 hours and must have asked my Hyatt concierge to make sure I had the suite all nights at least 3 times past when she was sick of me.

It was hard to understand the English as a second language but I think he said he is refunding all my points and giving us two massages (hopefully not personally), but I really hope he doesn;t mean he is refunding my soon to expire suite upgrade. Thoughts? Do I call my concierge now or wait to see what they offer me in person. I planned this trip a long time ago then switched 7 nights to 6 when my normal concierge was on vacation and that seems to have been the screw up.

Absolutely loved it. Was given the Presidential suite for three day then a deluxe room. Loved the spa, Soberanna restaurant next door best trout I have ever had, Silly prices like $14 for 5 star food. Went to 7 course Michelin star winery dinner for $70. The park across the street was filled with locals. The art in the hotel was better than in the galleries. I've got LAX-SCL Latam lie flats for 45K AS again in October

Is the pool nice? Was the weather very hot?

We are going to Mendoza at the end of our trip as we are leaving via SCL and would otherwise have to double back to BA. It will be after Patagonia, so all we want to do is rest up before the long flight home.

Would you stay two nights or three nights (considering I don't drink the wine)?

we stayed at PH Mendoza for 3 nights. Got a great globalist full suite upgrade and the GM even checked us in. The pool is fine but is more a hotel pool vs a huge resort pool. If
your not interested in touring wineries there are day trips up into the Andes which we did one day. The hotel also has a casino if
your into gambling.
Morning breakfast was very good and served in their restaurant.
Their are several good restaurants in walking distance near by.
