Just finished a three night stay. My experience was below average. The lobby is under heavy construction as expected. Had to ask for my diamond welcome amenity, chose the points and waiting for the additional 2000 HGP bonus to post.
Huge convention and hotel was sold out so no upgrade. Room needed some TLC, ceiling had stains in the corners. One of my bath towels had a black stain, called for replacements and my replacement towel had a hole in it…..hmmmm WTH, is this a Hyatt…….
Lounge was busy but not too crowded, lots of kids at times. Breakfast was limited, one main egg type “thing” each morning ( I can't even describe what it was but It was gross) Ham/chicken/salmon meats, cereal, pastries and other little things.
Never went up during lunch.
Limited Hors d’oeuvres with alcoholic drinks for $4
24 hour lounge access with coffee and soft drinks
One of the evening lounge attendants had the biggest “B” face, I was scared to ask for anything .
Overall staff was average, they didn't go out of their way to be extra nice but they weren't rude. Another poster mentioned this property usually caters to conventions and they’re right, you don’t get the “we love diamonds” vibe here.
But excellent location connected to the metro. ^^^

Used points to upgrade to suite. (Wanted to save DSU for a longer stay.) Spacious suite with Nespresso and decent reno EXCEPT... neither the 1980s powder room or main bath was not updated. The jets on whirlpool tub was rusty and the grout was peeling off. The bathroom, dressing area are spacious but the shower is claustrophobic and the toilet is at the far end which is not convenient. THE worst reno I have ever seen! Looks like the standard room baths are renovated.
Both lounge and staff are at or below average.
Upside: location can not be beat.
Back to PH for me

Direct hotel email address
Hi all,
Can anyone provide me with any direct hotel email address from either front office, reservations, hotel management?
I did google but couldn't get the right answer.
Thanks for any inputs!

I'll be at GH DC within two weeks. Will the rumored construction be finished by next weekend?
I will use guaranteed availability rate for one of the nights because all nearby high end hotels are all sold out (not sure what's going on in DC next week). I hope this Grand Hyatt is worth the $450 rack rate.

I'd pick the PH if it isn't a lot more expensive. There are also some well located Hyatts in near suburbs, convenient to both Metro and airport(s).

It's closer to all major sights, and there is a subway station underneath it. and ph is more expensive and farther away from major sights.

The Metro station IIRC is under an attached office building. I'll agree that this is a big plus, especially in bad weather and if you use Metro to get from/to DCA.
However, for things to do, I would argue that the PH tends to be a better location for my interests: Georgetown, restaurants, art museums, etc. I really don't find the neighborhood of the GH to be appealing unless you're there for a big meeting, although I guess the newe spy museum is nearby.
YMMV.

I had trouble finding pictures of the Grand Suite that you get with a DSU, so I took a few with my phone during a recent visit. All in all, nice spacious room with a comfortable living space but the bathrooms are in dire need of a renovation. This room does not compare favorably with the DSU room we had recently at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. The lounge was small and overcrowded. I went once for breakfast and didn't go back after that. They did not give me the option to take breakfast in the restaurant. The metro access was very convenient and the hotel's location was perfect.

Is this still true? Would the Diamond breakfast amenity be in the club lounge? Can it be converted to restaurant vouchers? Thanks
