Checked in today. Good Diamond Recognition, except that they were "out of amenity cards" and it was subtly hinted that maybe I should just take the points
Same Executive Suite as I had previously, still a great room with the largest (60") TV I have seen within Hyatt and plenty of space to stretch out. Everything is still solid with the hard product, if a little worse for wear (the gooseneck lamp in my room looks like someone was doing chin ups on it
Near perfect location. Might choose the PH at the same price point, but I never see that, so there you have it. Has my vote over HR Chicago. For now.

Is that the room you booked or did you use an upgrade certificate?
... Or is that an upgrade they sometimes offer to diamond members?
I love Chicago, and I'm sure which of the three Hyatt hotels is best located. The PH looks amazing, as one would expect, but it's usually a lot more expensive than the other two. I just booked the Hyatt for 134$+tax on a AAA rate, and I don't think I've ever seen the PH going below 250$.

The buffet is pretty nice, esp. for a US property. There's a cheese/charcuterie station, oatmeal/cereal/nut/dried fruit offerings; bread/bagels/muffins/pastries; fresh fruit/greek yogurt and then a large area w/hot options including the regular (bacon, scrambled eggs, french toast) + special offerings - today it was a grilled ham & cheese sandwich.
The selection was good, as was the quality - but was I think I appreciated the most, its spread out over quite a large area so you can see everything clearly, figure out what you want easily, etc..

Staying here this weekend and the HGP specialist reached out to me. This happens only occasionally for me with some Park Hyatts. Even when I make a request, such as a fridge in the room, there is not follow through.
She inquired, so I took the opportunity to ask for a suite upgrade and she made it happened. Clearly, the temp is in the single digits and the hotel likely has low occupancy, but it was still nice to take care of it before checkin and a nice touch. Definitely move them up on my list of places to stay when I am in Chicago. I go to Chicago several times a year and have stayed at most of the hotel. This is my favorite 4 star hotel in Chicago.
Bottom line: I think this Hyatt is one that is more likely to give Diamond a complimentary suite if available.

I stayed here last week on a dsu. I was a little disappointed in the suite assigned, while it was a full two rooms in size, the living area half of the room was windowless and backed onto the elevators. This configuration effectively made the room the equivalent of a king room for me. I will concede that the pull-out sofabed in the other room would be useful if traveling with kids.
Overall the stay was fine, breakfast was good (I recommend ordering an omelet from the kitchen which are included in the buffet). This is also my fav hotel lobby in Chicago, its a very nice place to hang out during a Chicago winter. The only downside this visit was I felt housekeeping had slipped a notch since my last visit, simply not the same attention to detail as in the past (shower not spotless on arrival, couch cushions and pillows not replaced second day etc.)

I actually booked two rooms at this property - one at regular rate and one on points (both for relatives coming into Chicago for the weekend).
I made a point of stopping in the week before to have a chat with the front desk and they could not have been kinder or more accomodating and even took me on a room inspection to make sure relatives would be comfortable. That sold me on the property and I immediately moved my reservations from the Hyatt Regency on Wacker to this property.
If you're looking for a better stay experience, I think this Hyatt beats the stuffing out of the HR on Wacker. For luxury, Park Hyatt still the best, but this hotel will be my first choice for out of town guests. Winter weekend refundable pricing was $149 per room, an *excellent* value. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Stayed here two nights ago when my SEA-CMH flight was unexpectedly stranded in MDW due to fog. Both the Mag Mile and the HR were both $179 rates (phew... thank God) so I picked the Mag Mile because I've never stayed there before. Now wishing I would have read the reviews of this place before committing or I would have picked the HR, but on a short stay, didn't really matter much.
Got into the lobby around 1:00 AM, dumbfounded by the lack of any check-in desk or activity whatsoever. I should have realized to go up the elevator, but it was very late, I was exhausted, and there were ZERO signs or indication that the lobby was on the second floor.
Got up there eventually and was met by a perpetually confused desk agent. I asked about a "lounge" or "club" and he seemed very confused and told me there was a bar down the street that might still be open. Uh, no. I understand this is a "regular" Hyatt (aka Centric?), so no lounge, but you should still have some clue what one is.
Was not asked about amenity or points, so I had to ask for my points as my amenity, which also seemed to fluster the poor guy. Finally got my key and went upstairs to find a two-double room. No, thanks. I'm 6'6" and literally can't fit on a double bed. Went back downstairs and was switched to a King (an ADA room but I was so tired I didn't care).
Room was fine, bed was comfy. Breakfast buffet in the morning, as others have noted, was pretty solid with a variety of cheese, meats, nuts, etc. Breakfast was by far the best part of the stay.
Overall, service a bit lacking, but the stay wasn't bad. I am, however, baffled as to how this place can command rates of $400+ at times. I suppose it's all about location, but I'd much rather stay at the HR or McCormick Place. The Mag Mile felt like a slightly more upscale Hyatt Place with better breakfast to me, and not like that's a bad thing, but don't get your expectations too high here.

Yes. There are computers and seating directly across from the elevators on the lobby level (which is the 2nd floor) There's also the library - which is in between the reception desk and the bar.

I have had quite a few late night check-ins over the year where the check-in clerk was definitely very subpar to the caliber of what you encountered during more regular hours (its actually one of the reasons I hate late check-ins)
