So I get no communication as stated before about transportation from DPS. When I arrive I was handed a slip to sign which I assumed was for the service from DPS. Apparently it was for a upgrade in car service from DPS that I requested. Well sure enough they are trying to do the same thing back. The stories here never end. I called them out on this also so they are reversing. This place is exhausting. Not paradise.

The Resort refused to apply the spa discount

which was part of my package. I went down 30 minutes early since I knew if any place could screw it up this would be it. Looking at my charges the spa treatments posted seemed high. I asked the agent to confirm the rate billed was 20% less per my package. Sure enough it was not. I had to pull out my good old printed confirmation ago and show the line with the discount wording. He called the front office and then told me the discount could only be used for a Bay Club massage and not the new complex. Well that of course was funny because in error and based upon my last trip we went to the Bay Club for our massages and was told we were in the wrong place. We had to go out by the tennis courts. He continued to refuse. I told him I did not care and just fix it. They had no idea where spa treatments were being given. After 35 minutes they decided to apply the discount. Now I might have said some things in jest before but I really felt this place was trying to rip us off. On the way back we were told in straight words by a local who would know that tourists hate the Grand. So do I! This place was a joke and made a mess of our one night swing thru DPS. My friend who had Diamond status reiterated why he felt Hyatt for Starwood. I hope corporate is reading this and someone contacts me. Because if they are not proactive I will be. Happy to be at the Conrad SIN in a suite which I was upgraded to without asking a thing.

Wow, it's been a number of years, but I've had two of the very best hotel stays of my life at this property.

It makes me sad to read your experiences, RTWSTARALLIANCE, but thanks for sharing them -- for better or worse. I always look forward to reading your reviews and have learned so much from them.

Take the shuttle bus to the Ritz Carlton, their spa treatment is far the best. $240 USD gets you an unbelievable Spa treatment. They are rated near the top out of all the Spas in the world.

Hi RTW,
Glad you like their new spa. I tot it's the best.
Was there 4 months back, in a RC suite. was shown my suite by the Front Office manager, he ended the intro to my suite by standing waiting... for something.... should we tip a manager? Have not experience such awkward situation before. Someone please advise... Also happened to see the same mgr raising his voice at the RC at one of the guest over some billing discrepency. Scary.
Their RC used to be one of my personal fav few years back. Last visit was one of the worst experience i've had. Understaff being the main reason. The butlers at the RC desk frowned each time i walked in, like i was trespassing or something... i gave the RC a missed after 2 nights.

Can't believe we are talking about the same hotel!

My wife, son, and I spent 4 nights at the GHB in May and had a wonderful experience. We used points and booked a suite. Upon arriving at the hotel, we approached and front desk and gave our names we were then immediately escorted to our rooms for check-in. We had 2 t-shirts and a small beach tote. There was also fruits on the dining table. We also had the puppets each night (but didn't realize that it was ours to take). (forgot to mention that I have diamond status).

We also enjoyed the spa very much.

Agree, that the RC breakfast was very basic.

All in all was a very wonderful experience.

The highlight of the GH Lounge is that it sits in the middle of paradise. Surrounded by water, and nature.

You want to go to paradise to see a view of what? Buildings? Seafront?

I have found that when one goes to asia, don't expect to receive just because of what status you hold, but rather what you deserve to get.

Bali is a very spiritual place. What you project out, you will receive in return.

I'm going back and forth on whether or not to use the extra points for a suite. Did you think it was worth it? Would it have been if it was just you and your wife? Do all the suites have the private plunge pool?

Thanks.

If Jeff Probst should decide to not host Survivor anymore, CBS should contact you

IMO the suite is worth the points. However, I believe that the plunge pools are only in the two villas. I could be wrong though.

Huh? What's that supposed to mean? A bribe?

From what I read the OP had to fight for everything whether it was status related or paid for in his rate.
