I'm making this thread a wiki since there are issues that keep getting repeated (breakfast and transportation from/to CDG). Feel free to add whatever you feel is important - stick to facts of please and not one off exceptions (eg if you get an upgrade to the Presidential Suite on an award stay without any status - that's definitely a one off that doesn't belong in the WIKI - obviously you can do a regular post on it).

Public transport to the hotel from CDG

The best option is to take the Roissy bus to Opera. From there, the hotel is about a 5 minute walk.

The next best option is to take RER B to Chatelet-Les Halles. All trains from Roissy/CDG head south into Paris so no worries there. Some go express all the way into Paris (Gare du Nord, so Chatelet-Les Halles is the second stop); others are locals, in which case there are a lot of stops; some are half-express, half-local ... but all stop at Chatelet-Les Halles; and there is no point waiting for an express because it is rare if ever that an express will overtake a local. So get on whatever comes first. At Chatelet-Les Halles, transfer to RER A for one stop to Auber (which is joined to Opera station). You will be heading westbound, toward the termini St. Germain-en-Laye/Poissy/Cergny. You have to go up the stairs and back down for the Auber-bound train. Do not race across the platform for the RER B because that will be heading eastbound, to Gare de Lyon, Nation, Vincennes (and, depending on which one you get on, eventually Eurodisney!) The walk from the Auber exit closest to the RER stop takes about 10 minutes.

Public transport to the hotel from Orly

Take the Orlyval train to its end at Antony, then switch to RER B to Chatelet-Les-Halles and continue as above. In this case you can just cross the platform from the RER B to get the RER A headed to Auber.

Breakfast

The breakfast at Cafe Jeanne is free for Globalist members but is 40-50 euros per person otherwise. A modified but still very good version of this buffet breakfast is also available in the room and is also free for Globalists. Tips are not covered but then again the theory in France is that the service charge is in the price.

Museum tickets & pass from the concierge

You can buy "skip the line" tickets to the Louvre or Orsay for 18€ each, which is higher than the regular tickets via the Louvre & Orsay websites. But being able to "skip the line" obviously adds some value. They will also sell you the two day Paris Museum Pass for 55€. That is a 7€ markup.

Phone/data recommendations:
Lebara worked really well for me. What you need to do:
• You must unlock your phone (you can do this for free online with ATT through their website if you are out of contract)
• Order free SIM card at Lebara.fr a few weeks before your trip. I don’t think it took more than 2 weeks for my SIM card to arrive
• Activate SIM card at https://www.lebara.fr/activate-sim-detail?isoCode=en_GB or search “activate SIM” at Lebara.fr
• Load your SIM card with what you need. I paid 10 euro for 3G of data, unlimited SMS and local calls for 10 days (this should be plenty for most tourists)
LeFrench Mobile did not work so well for me: I paid 20-30 euro for local and international calls for my sister but was only able to make local calls and SMS

restaurant recommendations:
Nearby:
(We're here on 1 Oct 2021 and it appears this restaurant is closed permanently ...) Le Cap Bourbon- good, inexpensive, our server was nice and attentive (by French standards), great local crowd, menu has English translation
We ate a local Thai restaurant - Yo - its about a 5 minute walk from the hotel and very busy. I had a guinea fowl green curry - a first for me. Very good food and friendly service.

Other:
L'Avant Comptoir is a wine bar with great, relatively cheap eats and a great atmosphere and friendly, English-speaking staff. Standing room only and tight.

Could someone please explain what a "terrace" view is as opposed to courtyard/city? Thanks

Hotel consists of 5 buildings… there are two courtyards, one overlooking the terrace, the other overlooking Les Orchidées Café Jeanne (the glass roof).

The terrace “view” will invariably be more noisy and could have smoke rising up from the terrace. Due to the glass ceiling, the Jeanne courtyard will be quiet. Could be a bit darker IIRC.

Can you notice the smoke if you keep your windows closed?

Sometimes FT can be a tough crowd to please, so I’ll chime in with a counterpoint as I had a phenomenal experience here recently.

My TSU turned into a Residential Suite which was very generous. So much space - for a week - was certainly a luxurious experience in Paris. The hotel seemed genuinely excited to be able to offer it to me, too.

For my Birthday they also graciously delivered a lovely bottle of Philipponnat along with a plate of macarons accompanied by a note from the GM and a PH vendome leather bag tag.

Breakfast needs some work, but like nearly all other enterprise at the moment, availability of skilled labour is tough to come by. I did point out my disappointment with the (chaotic) breakfast one day. The response and service recovery was brisk and subsequent mornings seemed to flow much better.

Overall, I don’t agree the hotel has lost its lustre.

Not really. They close tight. Thankfully, A/C chillers/air intake is not around this area. But as some like to have their windows open in the evening, this might be a problem. Sadly, still quite a few smokers in France.

Great to hear this. I think it depends on your reference point -- some here have experienced this hotel during earlier years.

I've been given the Residential Suite on a TSU here too, when there wasn't a Deluxe Park Suite (and, yes, I'm aware that a TSU confirms into the Park Suite, which is really a junior suite or even just a slightly larger room with fireplace, sitting area, and nice big bathroom).

Trouble getting ahold of concierge

I'm having trouble getting ahold of the concierge desk via email, I've tried one email that was mentioned earlier in the thread and the one listed on the e-concierge site. Am I just going to have to call in?

No. sorry. The big difference is that the parlor was really big and had a very long formal-looking sofa with a big cocktail table. I think there was a nonworking fireplace and desk in the parlor too. I remember a huge walk in closet that wasn't part of the bathroom. One minibar and coffee machine were located in one of the foyers; IIRC there was a second such setup. It was like a very big one bedroom senior suite. I think should have been a locked off kitchen or catering pantry according to the suite category description.

Park Hyatt Paris - Vendome

5 Rue De La Paix Paris, France FR

A prestigious stay (15 Photos)

Park Hyatt Paris - Vendome

Returned to the PH Paris for two nights as part of our Grand Tour of Europe. I booked a standard room on points around six months prior. I specifically requested a view of the Rue de la Paix. We always like to do the PH Paris prior to the Hotel Martinez.

Pre arrival communication with the hotel was excellent and we used the hotel car to the airport and Meet & Assist on departure because of the mess that European airports had become.

Check In

Despite performing OLCI at 7AM that day, the app never notified me that the room was ready. Following a truly terrible stay at the HR AMS, I was expecting a room not to be ready at official check in time.

The app didn’t confirm the room as being ready so I was worried for another experience of waiting beyond check in time which was entirely unjustified.

Arrived at the hotel and the Guest Relations Manager Cecile greeted us and said “We’ve blocked two rooms for you. One is the Deluxe with the view, however I also have a stunning Prestige Suite you might like?”

She escorted us to the suite and despite the Courtyard view it was stunning and had two full bathrooms. My jaw dropped when we arrived in the room and she could see the joy on my face. On this vacation we are taking it slow so spending more time in the room than usual and it was wonderful to just relax and rest in.

Dining

We avoided the buffet and ordered Eggs Benedict with some sides and they were fine. Not as mid blowing as I recall, but they also provided Watermelon juice that we requested.

We ordered room service several times and it was delivered promptly, well laid out and suited our needs.

The welcome amenity for our special occasion was very much appreciated.

Service

We didn't partake in much other services, other than to say the Concierge handled lots of request efficientlly, often answering within an hour or several hours, max. The Concierge secured a last minute reservation at Monsieur Dior which was appreciated.

We arrived on the Eurostar and upon arrival were informed that the A1 was under construction during our stay. Our driver was efficient and excelled at navigating back roads through the suburbs to get to the airport. Had this been an Uber or other service I highly doubt we would have been so well looked after.

Meet & Assist Greeter was waiting exactly where we pulled up to due to semless communication with the driver. Travelling hand luggage only on AF J and a domestic flight at 13:20, it was rather unecessary as the Skypriority area had no queues at all. But I paid for the peace of mind and have no regrets.

Overall

Overall, we still have such wonderful memories of the PH Paris and will always consider it our Parisian residence.

The GM and team go above and beyond and delivered another memorable stay.

A prestigious stay

Would you like to write a review on the Park Hyatt Paris - Vendome?

No, thank you.

I believe they are back to 5 rue de la paix. Le labo might have been a stand in while products were out of stock / supply issues.
