Transfers and Costs

The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.
Any last minute name changes on domestic flight ticket are subject to a fee levied by the Maldivian Air. All such changes will be charged at the rate of USD 100 net per person. The exact flight timings are released two days before departure, but tend to be around these times:

Excess baggage will be charged and is subject to space availability and terms and conditions of the Air Carrier.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

Based on the published menus, I can't be all that far off. I understand the lobster and wagyu are expensive, but realistically, are you going to eat lobster every night? Steaks (except for the wagyu) top out at 60. I could see eating a steak 2-3 nights, but variety is the spice of life. Private beach dinner certainly helps the equation one day, and maybe helps it balance some cheaper days. I'm kinda feeling like it might be a break even scenario in the long run, but I really don't want to run a 6 day analysis to figure it out.

As far as the cost, if they tried to add the 22% on top of the price, I'd dispute it since I have an email directly from them categorically stating that the 210 price is inclusive of taxes after I asked the question. If it really were 256 (210 +22%) it just makes the math even worse

You cannot use the Club passes at a property which does not have a club lounge.

Yes, they will also let you take the remnants back to your room, which we did a few times. The only caveat is that you can't order a bottle unopened to take away, but after two or so drinks from one it's absolutely fine. This is due to the restriction of the drinks package being available at the F&B outlets only and not including room service. If you go AI perhaps this changes as you can get one delivered to your room in any case and deducted from the bill at the end of the day / settlement

Room service is not part of premium all inclusive. But the mini bar is and that adds up if you want a drink by your plunge pool or a late night snack. They have 8 mini bottles and several beers with your choice of mixers replenished daily.

There have been several posts recently stating it made total sense, but I just can not see how it works out. The table below is the costs I estimated per day, and to even get to this estimate took a lot of stretching (2 pool drinks per person, both eating dessert, and a bottle of wine a day)

Even with all that, I come out to ~399 which is still less than the Premium AI for 2 people ($420). Is the difference that as a Globalist we get free breakfast (though anyone paying gets free breakfast as well)? Am I missing something or making a gross misjudgment, or is it that our eating habits just don't line up with others (we tend to do either a lite lunch, or no lunch when on vacation)?

Conversely, the Drink AI for 195 for a couple seems like it could be an excellent deal as it doesn't seem hard to rack up that much in drinks in a day.

Secondary question - does anyone know if you buy a bottle of wine and don't finish it, will they save it for later meals?
Everything has a tax and service charge added, so a 22% bump over the listed price. Also, you apparently don't eat any food?

The pizza/flatbread at lunch is not even enough for 1 person, let alone 2. At dinner, a single caesar salad is exactly that - enough caesar salad for 1 person.

Here's a sample dinner that we had:

Course 1:
Scallops - $28
Tuna Tartare - $26

Course 2:
Tiger Prawns - $55
Lobster - $110

Course 3:
2 scoops of sorbet - $8

Wine:
Bottle of Australian Sauvignon Blanc - $120

Total: $347
Total w/tax and service fee: $423

Not every meal was lobster, but some of the meals we had more expensive desserts (and we did the Chateaubriand twice).

Average lunch was probably around $100 total for food, with a couple of drinks, so say $150 before fees, $183 after.

Even without breakfast, you're spending >$600 a day before any other drinks. If you sit on the bar beach or by the pool most of the day, you'll have more drinks, and they aren't cheap, alcoholic or not. If you really don't eat at all, AI for drinks and delaying breakfast until the end of the service period (11am IIRC) may be the better deal. That said, we were severely jetlagged for the first 4-5 days and didn't wake up later than 6:30am. There was no way we could have pulled off the "eat a late breakfast and try to make it until dinner" plan.

There were also additional perks offered, like private dining, inclusion in the barbecue and local food nights for free, and free mini bar. We also had a bottle of prosecco in an ice bucket sitting in our room upon arrival and had various treats delivered for free during the trip, especially on rainy days.

In the end, it was nice to feel pampered and not have to worry about food cost, which (to me) is exactly what you want when you are flying so far for a special experience.

For everyone that spends $600 per day on food and drinks there is someone else who spends $200. It is best to do what you did on a spreadsheet and justify it or not. We rarely get appetizers for dinner as the entrees are large enough but do get dessert and it typically runs $100-120. For lunch we normally get 1 entree each and it is usually $70-80 in the dining room or room service. That is more than enough for most people when factoring in breakfast is included for globs. We are not heavy drinkers so that makes a difference but you can eat 3 meals a day here with breakfast included for about $200 and you don’t feel like you are missing out on anything. If you like to drink a lot or have a few bottles of wine, then you should crunch the numbers and see if it is for you but otherwise it will be hard to justify it most times.

I'm a heavy drinker (like a bottle of Billecart Salmon rose + 3-4 scotches per partying night) and given the option, I probably will eat lobster all 4 nights. So I guess it makes more sense for me?

Point upgrade

I booked my stay on points. Am I able to upgrade to a park pool villa (or another suite) with points? Or can you only upgrade a points stay with cash? I’m debating whether to buy additional points with Hyatts 40% bonus going on vs. paying for an upgrade (I’m Explorist).

Only cash for upgrades. We loved the Deluxe Pool Villa. That being said I would put my money in Pemium AI instead of a pool villa if you had to choose one

Dinner at Drift?

So, we've eaten at Island Grill and main Dining Room, but on the website, Drift (on boardwalk to overwater villas), has interesting themed nightly meals (Italian, Chinese hot pot, etc). Anyone done these? How much do they cost? There are no prices listed on the website.

I theoretically have a categorical answer on this directly from their website

https://www.hyatt.com/en-US/hotel/ma...ph/news-events

Scroll down to find the meal plans and then find the following footnote
Meal plan rates are inclusive of all taxes and service charge.
Just made my decision to do the Premium for my 6 nights stay with my wife in a couple of weeks
