The shortest flight from Male Domestic terminal to Kooddoo Domestic Airport is ~55 minutes and the longest flight takes ~1 hour 45 minutes due to a ‘stop over’ in Kadhdhoo Domestic Airport.

A scenic and short speedboat journey of approximately 30-40 minutes (weather dependent) will follow as the final stretch of the journey to our island.
Any last minute name changes on domestic flight ticket are subject to a fee levied by the Maldivian Air. All such changes will be charged at the rate of USD 100 net per person. The exact flight timings are released two days before departure, but tend to be around these times:
  • Arrivals (Departure from MLE) : 10:30-11:00, 12:00, 13:40, 17:30hrs and last flight at 23:30
  • Departures (Departure from Kooddoo) : 0545hrs, 0800hrs, 1130hrs, 1530hrs and last departure at 1830hrs

Excess baggage will be charged and is subject to space availability and terms and conditions of the Air Carrier.

Map of the resort
Best Villas
Water villas: Generally the higher number the better. #51 is the most private
How to save money during stay
Have late breakfast (breakfast is free for all guests except if you are redeeming points), skip lunch, and only pay for dinner
The Saturday free cocktail social (manager's reception) is at 6:30pm
Bring family?
This resort is not orientated for children. No kids club, pool is not suitable for young kids, and you will need to pay the transfers for each child, and plenty of PDA.
That said, some families have loved their experience here. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...hadahaa-review. If you bring children the Hyatt does provide sitting service for $20/hour.

Also note that the resort charges $250 per child age 3 and up per night (even if the child does not require an extra bed). Only kids 2 and under are free. http://travelsort.com/blog/park-hyat...a-bed-fee-ever
Wifi
As at January 2022, the resort's wifi speed is 10-12Mbps.
Tipping
The management views employees as each part of a team, with no one more important to the hotel's success. No one wants to order room service if the groundskeeper or housekeeper has not created an inviting place to enjoy it for instance. So employees share equally the 10% service charge added into everything, including the room charge. Tipping beyond that is not necessary, but at your discretion. Unlike the service charge which is shared with all employees on the entire property, if you choose to add additional gratuity to the bill for a meal or an activity, that money is shared amongst employees of the department responsible for that meal or service (e.g. additional gratuity on a dive center bill will be shared amongst those employees, while additional gratuity on a Dining Room bill will be shared amongst the food service employees). Employees are also allowed to keep cash tips that they receive directly. Employees are rewarded with trips and other gifts when their outstanding service is brought to management's attention. A great way to reward a good employee is by letter to management.
See this post which provides more details http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/22508516-post1525.html
Ipad App
There is an Ipad in each room that has an app with a lot of useful / interesting information. If you have an Ipad, you can search & download the app for: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa. It doesn't work on an iPhone due to the page size. Some info may be out of date or missing, so check with the resort.

We just returned from there and I wondered the same thing on our trip. If you search the internet on the topic of tipping, you will find many opinions. A lot of them are written with anger directed at Americans for "spreading the scourge of tipping" to other places where it is not customary.

In the end, I assumed that if Hyatt is charging 10% service fees for this very purpose, and tipping is not customary or expected, then I was not going to tip unless something done truly over-the-top deserved it. I only ended up tipping the waiters for our beachfront dinner, and that at least seemed to be fair compared to other travelers I discussed it with while at the resort. But to each their own...

After 12 days the staff felt like family I wanted to help them out. When you get your bill there is a line for additional tip I think most leave extra but there is no pressure

The staff sprays for mosquitos twice per day so we did not see many. However, one night my wife did get bit by a few during dinner at The Grill. That was the only time we saw any.

If I book a Deluxe Park Pool Villa, what are the chances that I will get one of the updated/new build ones? Possible to request one of the renovated units?

My wife and I are thinking about going to the Maldives next year for four nights and three full days. Outside of the room cost, how much should we budget for food and a few activities? We have the lowest status with the Hyatt due to the credit card, so I doubt there would be free breakfast. Our goal is to mostly relax so I doubt we will be doing a lot. Also, the flight from HKG gets in super late -- around 11 pm. Would there be transportation that late in the night to the Hyatt?

Are you paying with $ or points?

If paying $, breakfast is included
If paying points, it's not.

IMHO, which of course many will disagree, but if I didn't have my globalist status, I am not sure if I would have gone to this property.
Unless you have a particular interest in something that's unique to this property (Yacht to the equator, etc), the cost of base room here is more than over the water unit @ IHG's HI Kandooma.
And from purely resort/ beach perspective, it didn't feel much different to me.

OK you all can throw tomatoes at me now

I recommend downloading the app and planning your trip if you want an idea on cost. “Activities” can range wildly here from $50pp to well over $500pp so anecdotal experience may not be helpful. Food pricing is fairly the same across the menus so you can get an idea there but we normally spend $120-200 per day which is eating 3 meals with breakfast being free for us. Drinks are another wild card and depend on how much you like. The AI options will make projecting cost easier but they are not cheap. Enjoy your trip!

I have never seen it in the 6 years we have been booking this hotel but I believe others have reported it for specific dates in the past. I wouldn’t hold out hope for it at this property but at least they have good award availability and don’t play games with that.

I currently have a reservation for 10 nights on points, so I am all set. However if C&P ever appeared, I would be inclined to change my current booking from points only to C&P instead. Sounds like it is not likely to happen unfortunately.

IIRC, C&Ps have much less favorable reimbursement rate than pure points booking - so that may be one of the reasons.

For food and drinks, I would figure $250pp/day if you drink a lot, $200pp/day if you drink moderately, and $150pp/day if you abstain. Activities vary a lot in terms of cost - we did the dolphin trip, a couple of guided snorkeling tours, and the "glass" kayak. Total cost for those things was probably around $600.

I would strongly recommend not arriving at 11pm. There are no flights to Kooddoo from Male that late, so you will spend the first night of your vacation in the capital city, then take a flight/boat to the resort the following morning.

How many resorts are there in the Maldives (or anywhere exotic, really) that you can redeem 25k points for a ~$1,000 nightly stay? It's an incredible deal, especially if you have the Hyatt credit card and stay there frequently for work. Before the slight devaluation of the Hyatt credit card, you could get 2 free nights just for signing up and spending $1k on the card. For us, that was huge value - rooms were $1,200 per night around the holidays when we visited, and we got 4 nights free just from picking up a credit card.

Points and cash I believe popped up a couple of times when the place was pretty new, but as I understand it, it's pretty much no chance now.
