HYATT GOLD PASSPORT® DIAMOND TRIAL
Terms and Conditions
To qualify for this promotion, member must contact Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service at 800.304.9288 or [email protected] between June 1, 2013, and April 30, 2014, reference Offer Code DMD14 and provide a statement with their account activity from a competitor. Upon enrollment, member will receive trial Diamond membership for 60 days. To maintain Diamond membership through February 2015, member must complete 12 eligible nights at any Hyatt worldwide within 60 days of enrollment. Member will also receive 1,000 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points on their first six (6) eligible nights within 60 days. Maximum 6,000 Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points may be earned. Diamond 30% point bonus will be awarded for all eligible stays during the 60-day trial membership period when member chooses points for their stay. If member completes the stay requirements they will receive a new membership card, valid through February 2015, within 3-4 weeks of qualifying. Membership benefits will be available when member provides their Hyatt Gold Passport number at time of reservation and check-in.
Limit one trial tier offer per member. Hyatt Gold Passport will track all eligible nights in which a Hyatt Gold Passport account number is provided. An eligible night is defined as a single night at any Hyatt in which an eligible rate is paid. For the purposes of this Promotion, an “Eligible Rate” shall be defined as any hotel published room rate, including, but not limited to, rates found on hyatt.com, the Hyatt Daily Rate, Volume Account Rates, AAA and Senior Citizen rates. “Ineligible Rates” are discounted rates, including, but not limited to, any free night stays, Third Party Internet Rates (examples include priceline.com, hotels.com, Expedia, and Travelocity), traditional wholesale rates (examples include GOGO Worldwide Vacations, Pleasant Holidays, etc.), airline crew rates, airline employee rates, travel agency employee rates, Club at the Hyatt discount certificate stays, Hyatt employee or employee family discount rates, airline interrupted-trip vouchers or contracted rooms (a contract room is a room that has been reserved pursuant to a written and executed agreement between a hotel and a corporation, government agency or individual for a negotiated room rate in exchange for an agreed upon number of rooms to be rented for an extended period of time). Back-to-back stays at a single Hyatt are considered one stay. Hyatt Gold Passport reserves the right to alter or withdraw this promotion at any time without notice.

.I am a current poster child for OP's question.
I became Hilton Honors Gold via a stray conversation with an Amex Platinum rep.
I have not stayed in a HIlton Honors property in a coon's age.
I do have -- for real ! -- a Waldorf-Astoria (hence HH) stay booked.
When I took the screen shot of my HH Gold status, the upcoming stay was on the page. I went into the Paint utility and circled it in red.
Sent this modified screen shot to Hyatt GP. Got a quick reply that I was eligible. We agreed on a start date and I am currently doing the Diamond Trial.
I don't think that the upcoming stay really mattered. There was certainly no past stay.

i like about 10 blocks from this hotel. yes, they try to upgrade diamonds to suites when they're available. great people there too.

i am thinking of getting my wife to get matched to hyatt (she's hilton) - Does anyone know if she can request a start date ? She has about 10 nights booked already over 60 days exactly.. Would like to pick up all of these on the challenge if possible.. has anyone attempted this? or should i just send the email the day before her first stay? anyone?

I wonder why they let you use the upcoming stay as criteria for eligibility because one could just easily cancel that.

I'm not so sure that they did use it ... The reg that you cite may just be something that they enforce ... when they enforce it.
You are absolutely right that I could cancel the forthcoming reservation, but then isn't that precisely what Hyatt wants? For us to move our future stays -- the past is the past -- to their properties? I certainly have more incentive to do so as a (Trial) Diamond than I would have otherwise.

I'm assuming that this means request a date within the current trial period (ie before April 30)? Or could I contact them around 4/30 and request my trial start 6/1?

If I were to status challenge to Hyatt Diamond and then open the Hyatt card... do those 2 nights no longer get upgraded to a suite automatically?
I'm actually planning out my honeymoon for this Fall to Kauai and was thinking of doing it for both the SO and myself to get 4 nights.
If Diamond no longer gets you two suite nights, would it make sense to just challenge anyways and use a suite upgrade on a paid stay? (Aiming for Grand Hyatt Kauai).

There is currently no credit card offer that includes two nights in a suite for Diamond members.

I was actually planning to start the trial on April 19, 2014 and try to do the 60 days challenge, but it looks like I will only be able to do this for about 10 days since the trial promo ends on April 30?!
