But this property has quite a few suites of various configurations so contact the property directly to see what the cost would be for the different suites that they might be willing to confirm you into.

Um, doss1, I think you had it right the first time.

I am a current poster child for OP's question.

I became Hilton Honors Gold via a stray conversation with an Amex Platinum rep.

I have not stayed in a HIlton Honors property in a coon's age.

I do have -- for real ! -- a Waldorf-Astoria (hence HH) stay booked.

When I took the screen shot of my HH Gold status, the upcoming stay was on the page. I went into the Paint utility and circled it in red.

Sent this modified screen shot to Hyatt GP. Got a quick reply that I was eligible. We agreed on a start date and I am currently doing the Diamond Trial.

I don't think that the upcoming stay really mattered. There was certainly no past stay.

Ok, humm..interesting. You're not the first person to say this, though. I do see the following in my trial eligibility email: "Please note, the competitor statement must indicate your name, tier status and at least one stay in the last 12 months."

I wonder why they let you use the upcoming stay as criteria for eligibility because one could just easily cancel that.

You can request that the challenge start on a particular date after GP has reviewed your information for the challenge.

I'm not so sure that they did use it ... The reg that you cite may just be something that they enforce ... when they enforce it.

You are absolutely right that I could cancel the forthcoming reservation, but then isn't that precisely what Hyatt wants? For us to move our future stays -- the past is the past -- to their properties? I certainly have more incentive to do so as a (Trial) Diamond than I would have otherwise.

I'm assuming that this means request a date within the current trial period (ie before April 30)? Or could I contact them around 4/30 and request my trial start 6/1?

Hey all, tried my best to search through posts to see if anyone had an answer but couldn't seem to find one... let me know if this is the wrong forum for this too!

If I were to status challenge to Hyatt Diamond and then open the Hyatt card... do those 2 nights no longer get upgraded to a suite automatically?

I'm actually planning out my honeymoon for this Fall to Kauai and was thinking of doing it for both the SO and myself to get 4 nights.

If Diamond no longer gets you two suite nights, would it make sense to just challenge anyways and use a suite upgrade on a paid stay? (Aiming for Grand Hyatt Kauai).

Thanks!

You can find that info here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...hase-wiki.html

There is currently no credit card offer that includes two nights in a suite for Diamond members.

That's been gone for at least a few months.

Do note that suite upgrades at that hotel are only to the Garden Suites (essentially ocean facing, but on the ground floor), which limits both their appeal and their availability. Yes you could use the suite upgrade if your paid stay qualifies. I'm not an expert, perhaps someone will correct me if wrong.

You can certainly utilize suite upgrades on reservations used to qualify for Challenge. If GHK is the only motivating factor, I would check on availability before going down this road. The suites are very limited in numbers. It may make sense for you to utilize suite upgrades at other hotels like HR Maui or Andaz Maui (so far so good). HR Waikiki is very limited in numbers as well.

Based on the official post above (sticky), I see that the current Diamond Trial promotion ends April 30, 2014. I was actually planning to start the trial on April 19, 2014 and try to do the 60 days challenge, but it looks like I will only be able to do this for about 10 days since the trial promo ends on April 30?!

April 30 is the deadline for entering the promotion, not the day that it ends.
