Any reason why they don't match against Starwood Gold but they do for Marriott gold and hilton Gold? I have both Marriot and Hilton gold becuase I have their credit cards but I earned SPG gold through stays.

In terms of qualifying criteria, HH G and MR G are both a lot harder than SPG G.

I assume this would work (as the 31st works for qualifying year-end). I would call them and have them make a note on your account. If it's not automatic, someone will have to manually place it as your qualifying 12th night.

Hello healthnut,

If you complete your 12th night on day 60 of your Diamond Trial we will honor this. It may need to be manually adjusted however. If you would like to send me a PM after you have completed your final night I will be more than happy to take care of this for you.

If you have any further questions feel free to me PM.

Thanks!

Does it matter if you attained any of the competitors required status not through min stays/nights (ex Credit Card)?

From Hyatt: "Please note, the competitor statement must indicate your name, tier status and at least one stay in the last 12 months. "

It does not matter.

In addition, I was accepted for the Diamond Challenge by providing Fairmont Hotel and Resort statements proof of stays. So there are in addition to the list of hotel chains that GP accepts for Diamond Challenge. Contact GP directly to inquire.

They wouldn't show up as qualifying stays on your statement.

I would think that with Starwood you'd be fine since an award night counts towards your status. Other chains wouldn't count unless the stay counts towards your status.

A Question on Timing

Apologies for the newbish question, but I'm a bit confused on a few of the timing issues at hand here:

1) Is it possible to request the Diamond Challenge start on a specific date, or do you have to email the request in on that exact date? Mrs. Selfish and I have a series of Hyatt stays starting on Dec 1 and I'd prefer to have the challenge start then, naturally.

2) On the length of diamond status (assuming one were to fail to complete their 12 nights), reports seem a little mixed as to how long the benefits last: 1) 60 days + end of the month or 2) 90 days. If one were to start the challenge on 12/1, would the benefits end on 1/30 (60 days + end of month), or some time in February?

Hyatt just confirmed my elgibility for the challange with Hilton Gold status and my only stays with hilton this past year was using the free nights offered by one of the Hilton CC. The stay shows up on my statement and my statement shows I didn't receive any points for the stay. So my thinking is if the stay does not specificaly say Award stay then you should be good.

The e-mail I got back seemed to indicate once you accept the challange then the 60 day clock starts. I had requested to start it two weeks from now but it seems it will start once I reply back to the e-mail that I accept the terms of the challange.

Thanks - sounds like a good strategy is to write in early, and then accept within a 48-72 hour of the day you'd actually like it to start. Just wish my stay was a little further into the month!

If you complete the Challenge you will keep status and benefits until February 2015 on the current Diamond Challenge offer. Note that you will have a set of 4 new Diamond Suite Upgrades credited to your account March 1st, 2014. You may use the current Diamond Suite Upgrades in your account on reservations until February 28, 2014, on any bookable reservation. Note after March 1st, 2014, you will be unable to make any changes on reservations that you make with the current set of Diamond Suite Upgrades without relinquishing the Diamond Suite Upgrade used on the reservation.

If you don't qualify for the Challenge, then your status will remain only during your challenge. There has been reports that the status will remain 30 days after your unsuccessful challenge, but no where is this documented and YMMV.

Note during the Challenge, you will have Diamond Status and Suite Upgrades to use.
