Since I already had Hilton HHonors Gold, I obtained a Hyatt Gold Passport Diamond with simply an email with my HHonors card scan and Hilton Account Summary. I already enjoyed the benefits at the Hyatt Regency in Kiev and am thrilled.

The only thing is that you have to spend 12 nights within 60 days to maintain your status until Feb 2013. No problem for me since I had already planned to stay at the Andaz 5th avenue for 7 nights in September and at the HR Kiev again at the end of December for 4 nights.

Don't miss this opportunity, Hyatt Diamond is hard to get..
Glad you enjoyed the Diamond service...next to Avis Chairman it's my favorite elite tier!

Hyatt won't match or give me a stays challenge

I am a Marriott Platinum Elite and I am trying to switch my business to Hyatt. They won't match or give me a challenge as they say there are no promos now. Is there anything that can be done so I can start giving them my business??

Yes, you can simply give them your business and get to status the ol' fashioned way. (sorry, I couldn't resist!)

That's odd. I haven't heard about Hyatt no longer giving status matches - even though it is getting late in the year and most people would have trouble qualifying for next year.

If you have enough stays planned through the end of the year, I would definitely call back and let them know.

Actually, call back and ask again for a match and/or challenge.

Perhaps you should ask for a Diamond Trial. They technically no longer match status.

PM the Gold Passport Concierge here on Flyertalk - they should be able to tell you with authority what is going on. From the latest Challenge "rules" that I'm aware of, Marriott Platinum with at least 10 stays in the last 12 months should qualify you for a status challenge to Diamond provided that you do 12 nights in the next 60 days (which is pretty steep).

I believe it is 12 nights in 90 days, but still.

You made me question the 60 days - but according to http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt...11-10-a-6.html - it's 60 days not 90 days.

I just spoke with Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service and the person I spoke with did not seem to know anything about the Diamond Challenge and wanted to know if there was an offer id. He seemed to believe this challenge had expired in June. Also, do you know if there is an expiration date to this offer, I am not interested in this until February?

There is no expiration that I'm aware of. However, I'm sure Hyatt reserves the right to amend/cancel this program at their discretion.

I called this morning for a Diamond Challenge. I was told it expired in June or July.
I PM'd GP Concierge, as Peteropny suggested (post #217). Prior to getting a response, I called again specifically asking for a Diamond Trial. I told the person that I am a Marriott Platinum Premiere. The person took my Hyatt number and put me on hold for ~5 minutes. After he returned to the phone, I was told to either email my statement showing hotel stays to [email protected] or fax it to 402-593-9449.
I received a PM from GP Conceirge shortly after sending my statement by email telling me to do the same thing - fax or email my statement.

Here's what I emailed:
Subject: Request Diamond Trial
Gold Passport -
I have attached my 2010 and 2011 Marriott hotel stay statements. I am currently a Marriott Platinum Premier but am looking at switching all of my business over to Hyatt. I understand that the Diamond Trial requires me to stay 12 nights in 60 days.
My Gold Passport number is 1234567890Z.

Very Respectfully,
iflyjetz

Within an hour, I received:

Dear iflyjetz:

Thank you for contacting Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service. I
appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Per your e-mail, I have enrolled you in the Diamond Trial Offer. You
will receive trial Diamond membership for 60 days. Please allow up to 72
hours for your account to update to the Diamond tier.

Please note, you must complete 12 nights in 60 days to maintain Diamond
tier through February of 2013. You will also receive 1000 bonus points
on your first six eligible nights within 60 days, up to a maximum of
6000 bonus points.

I appreciate your support of Hyatt and the Gold Passport program. Please
let me know if I may assist you further.

Sincerely,

Brian Xxxxxx

I'm still waiting for my account to reflect Diamond status; I have a couple of nights that start this Saturday. I suspect that I will see Diamond status prior to checkin on Saturday. I should have no problem logging 12 nights in 60 days; I have a vacation planned in November.
I will post when I see my status updated. Hope this helps.

I remember seeing a trial program that ended in June and one that's available to start by 12/31. A similar offer will probably be available in February too if you want to wait. Worst case, you can get Platinum from the credit card which is better than nothing.
There isn't any offer code. It's called a Diamond trial.
