How far in advance of the reservation did they upgrade you? TIA!
They just did it and it was in my app. I found out about 2 hours before I arrived at the airport the day of my trip. I used a suite certificate beforehand and was automatically further upgraded.

Pool and Water Park Lounge Chair Question

I'm headed to the resort next week. In looking at the web site, I see that you can reserve cabanas and lounge chairs at the pools and water park. My question: is it possible to get a chair at the water park or pool without reserving one? Will they all be taken? Would I have to get there early in the morning?

The fee for reserving a lounge chair is $75, which the site says goes toward your food and beverage service. That doesn't sound too bad. Of course it doesn't say what the food and beverage options are. Any information about this and any other suggestions would be appreciated. Looking forward to the warm weather and basketball.

I checked in yesterday. Received an incredibly warm welcome as a globalist. I actually wasn't planning to come here until Tuesday, but decided to change plans and added a couple of points nights on the front end to our five night paid booking. I called the front desk morning of to merge the reservations, which they did without issue. I used an upgrade to confirm into a grand suite, which wasn't ready at 10am when I arrived. The asst manager met me at registration and offered to give us a room to use for the day, which was much appreciated. Even the base rooms here are fairly nice.

The water park is incredible. We arrived shortly after opening, and it was not busy at all. There is a massive amount of seating throughout the park. Tables, loungers, chairs, places to put your stuff by every ride. The staff are all so nice. We loved all of the slides, but the best was cannonball. The lazy river goes fairly slowly, but we enjoyed a lap around that, as well.

In terms of the fee for the lounge chairs, you're correct that it's an F&B minimum per person to reserve a chair and sit in one of the pool areas. I don't have a menu I can point to, but it did seem like the offerings were reasonably extensive. There are a lot LOT of food options in the park, from burgers to chicken to salads and then the Marcus fishhouse is right outside. I don't think it would be that hard to hit the minimum. But, I wonder why you would want to do that instead of grabbing a free lounge chair at one of the Hyatt pools. I could see it making sense if you woke up too late to get a chair at the hotel, but otherwise the Hyatt pools are great.

No additional upgrade beyond the grand suite, but it works perfectly for us. There is a separate check in for vaccinated guests in the East tower, and I'd say that mask compliance is fairly high right now. There was an election in September and voters decisively rejected the then-ruling party for being too aggressive with COVID enforcement and lockdowns. So, it seems like the rules probably aren't being enforced as aggressively as they were a few months ago. Everything is open, other than masks and sanitizer and vax checks there certainly is not a lockdown.

For globalists, the club closure (the club facilities are being used for COVID tests now) means that you get two drink vouchers per day. The vouchers are good at most of the spots here in the Hyatt including the T2 cigar bar, jazz bar, and the bars at the pool. Good for anything up to $25 (surprisingly, there are a lot of things you could get that would cost more! Casamigos is just under the wire at $24!).

So far, we've really loved the property. I get the sense that pre-COVID, there were a lot of things here that needed to be ironed out, and now that business is really rolling, they've done just that. It doesn't feel like there are Vegas-style crowds here yet, but it also feels like things are humming along.

I'm here through the week and will try to offer some additional thoughts on F&B options and activities later.

Yes. Two per night. The buffet is back open, which is great. It doesn't close until noon, so no need to buy lunch if you do a big, late breakfast and relatively early dinner. My suspicion is that it will be some time before they reopen the club lounge.

Some of the hours posted online are wrong. It seems like hours have been expanding over the course of the fall. A lot of places say online that they're only open weekends but are actually open nightly.

One thing that's a little bit annoying is that the ice buckets here are tiny and don't come with plastic bags.

Service throughout the resort has been great. I get the sense that they've done a much better job with staffing as occupancy has crept up. It's certainly not on par with what you would get at a Park Hyatt in a major business city, but it's been friendly and competent at every turn.

Would you mind clarifying further on vouchers? Two per person? Two per room?

Family of 5 here...and booking two connecting rooms, so trying to figure out if we get two vouchers only (ie, each globalist gets 2), or 4 (two per room booked), or even 10 (2 per person). Big difference of course!

Thanks!

Good Q! I think that it's two per room, but I'll see if I can check in on this. We have two adults in our room and got one voucher (for two drinks) per night.

In terms of F&B, we've had the chance to go to a good chunk of the outlets so far.

For breakfast, the Regatta buffet is great. It's open until noon, with a variety of omelet stations, pancakes, and more. With COVID, everything is served by staff.

The bars here all have slightly different vibes: the SLS Monkey Bar has limited seating at the bar itself but cocktails generally run $15 and there are a good number of bottles of wine. Right off the casino floor, so easy to get to from the Hyatt rooms. The T2 Cigar Bar is probably best for the drink vouchers. Good pours on wine, and most of the whiskey/Scotch selections will work. Service outdoors at T2 is very hit or miss. I would recommend sitting at the bar. The Manor Bar at the Rosewood has fantastic service and the best drinks of the bunch, but cocktails run closer to $19. The menu online also is out of sync with current pricing; we had to battle a bit to get a bottle of wine reprised to what was advertised on the website. The SLS rooftop bar has been closed for private events, but will see if I can check it out later this weekend.

As others have pointed out, it's $12 for bottles of water in the Rosewood and SLS restaurants. A complete scam.

In terms of food options, I will say this first: DO NOT GO TO SHUANG BA. The service is abysmally bad, and you will not get seated on time. You will also not get your food until two years after you've died of hunger. For the love of all that is holy, do not give them your business. And thank me for warning you against it. I will spare you all the details, but this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had--and the food (the limited amount that was delivered before I eventually walked out in a rage) was not bad!

The Blind Pig is a sports pub, which I enjoyed. Greek salad was great, and we also did a couple of sandwiches that worked for us. Resort pricing, so not a steal. Good number of beers on draft.

Carna is the resort steak house, and it is extremely good. Service was impeccable. Prices are about what you would expect to pay in NYC or SF or DC. The wine list has very few options below $150.

Katsuya is basically the exact same as any Katsuya in the US. Service was good, but for $300 for two people, not much food, and a half bottle of sake, it is overpriced for what you get.

The food at Filia was exceptional and service was acceptable. Again, not an inexpensive option. We liked the salad more than the pasta.

The food at Stix was great and reasonably priced. Food came out fast, although they warned aggressively on heat levels for the dan dan noodles, which were not spicy as delivered.

If looking for the best value play, I would recommend doing big buffet breakfast and then late lunch/early dinner at the water park or pool restaurants.

Are they no longer offering no-limit Globalist breakfasts at 3 Tides?

Grand Suite King with 2 young kids?

Staying over the week between Christmas and new year’s and have a grand suite king booked on points. Was told by the hotel that this room can accommodate two young children as well (even though it doesn’t show when booking online) but curious two hear about others experiences with roll away beds in suites. I can also book a second king room but assume odds are slim to none that they would be adjacent or connecting rooms.

Would love any feedback re: the Grand Suite King with young kids. (Seems some have two chairs instead of the sofa which wouldn’t work for sleeping).

Thanks!
