Totally new to - well, staying at hotels at all. Not even joking.

Want to stay with a friend on the Strip for six days, October 31st to November 5th. Probably different rooms for at least the first couple days. Might not need to be on the strip itself for the last couple days.

I do have Marriott/RitzCarlton gold status from the card. Rates look pretty expensive, probably $1500+ based on the free online sites.

Is there something obvious I'm missing here? Any way to leverage the status or lower them?

Not much of a posting history, but I *can* give great advice to Alaska travelers in return for some assistance here

I've been going to LAS for meetings since 2000. I go the same time every year. I have to say that the rates offered are much higher than the usual websites that I look at.

I'd flip the proposed itinerary --- Halloween weekend is causing Strip hotels to ask for a lot of $$$ for the first two nights of your stay.

Look at off-strip hotels for Friday/Saturday (or stay at downtown LV hotels (Fremont Street area)) for the first two nights of the weekend (Friday thru Sunday) and then come back to the Strip for Sunday through Wednesday.

That way you can get the full Vegas experience at less cost.

Do you mean like this one? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travel-children-221/

or this one: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...hreads-18.html (which is actually a thread, not a forum but is specific to your question)

I am looking for a reliable accommodation in Las Vagas! I want to go there for five days with my family for outdoor trip and want to stay in such place where a family can enjoy lots of entertainment. Is there any member who can tell me about the best hotel in affordable price ? Waiting for fast reply!

Too vague and too many choices.

I go to Vegas twice a year for meetings and sporting events. I usually stay at the Luxor for economy VS comfort. The Excaliber is also very economical and is probably a tad more family oriented. You can find entertainment ANYWHERE in Vegas. I'd not worry about that. Most casinos have entertainment shows.

If you want a more upscale casino/hotel try the relatively new Cosmopolitan. Also, any of the standard hotels on the strip are going to be decent.

Enjoy.

You would think! On LMTclub, Friday is the cheapest day by far ($139 for Aria before tax and fees.) Rates increase and by Wednesday the fifth most of the higher end hotels go into the $400/500 per night stratosphere. Palms and Caesar are cheap, though.

Looks like my best bet is Vdara for two nights with the 25% Visa Signature discount and benefits, then Caesar and Palms. I am hoping that will give a good range of the Vegas experience.. considering staying at one of the low-end (Luxor or Stratosphere) hotels for some of it. I could almost halve the price for the last four nights by staying at Stratosphere instead.. 600 to 350, wonder what the difference in experience would be.

This really depends on how old your kids are. If you have younger kids, I actually highly recommend Circus Circus just for the convenience. The hotel is old, but just make sure you stay at one of the renovated rooms, and avoid the gross motel-like rooms in the back, and you'll be fine. We had family trips and stayed there as a kid, and I loved it.

Try www.mycheapvegas.com for promo codes.

Another option is staying off strip at a condo or something if you have a car. Having a kitchen will save you a bit more money, again depending on how old your kids are and what you're looking to do there.

Just stayed at Vdara two weeks ago for the first time. Non-casino hotel, easy to get to others (Bellagio, Aria, Cosmo, etc.) and fairly quiet. Room was nice and guest services were on top of everything. I used Hyatt points for the first two nights (20k points per night) and then paid for Sunday night separately as it was around $100 and I didn't feel using 20k points was worthwhile. That is the story of Vegas -- expensive going into the weekend and cheap coming out of it.

I would stay there again as the rooms were quiet and I was able to sleep soundly. Maybe I was lucky and didn't have people who were clubbing all night next to me but overall a solid experience.

Smile Las Vegas Riviera Hotel & Casino

My Husband and I are going to Las Vegas for the week of Thanksgiving. We will be there from 11/24-11/30. I found rates from $21 a night at Riviera Hotel & Casino on getaroom.com. I must say this site has become my go to site when I need a hotel now. So far the hotels and the rates have not disappointed. Good price for a holiday week and right on the strip. :-)

Las Vegas Riviera Hotel & Casino

$15/night resort fee applies. This is the slowest time of the year for Las Vegas which is why rates are low.

Las Vegas Riviera Hotel & Casino

it's a stretch to say the Riviera is "right on the strip." you could probably find comparable rates at slightly nicer hotels such as harrahs, ballys, or flamingo.

I often see the Stratosphere for around $20 per night. I've personally stayed at the Flamingo for $23/night.

The Riviera deal is good but I'd try to find something a little closer to center strip.

My goto is either Luxor or Excaibur. I usually can get in there for around $25 a night and usually a small one time resort fee of $15. I don't mind paying a small resort fee as I do use the pool extensively when there to swim laps. I also happen to like the Starbucks in the Luxor. I know the Lux is in constant need of renovation, but with the velocity they see 24/7 I'm not surprised. When it comes to Vegas, anywhere on the strip is good for me. I once stayed at the Embassy Suites off strip (before the monorail) and it was a pain going back and forth. I'm a Horseplayer, so I usually stay cheap at the Luxor or Excalibur, then walk to the Wynn for their Sportsbook - my favorite. I love the Wynn but when I can get a room at the Luxor for 10% of the Wynn, I stay at one and play at the other.
