? You can do that with almost any third party site except for blind sites like Hotwire and Priceline. Some third party sites offer special rates that are non refundable and so do some hotels when you book direct (last direct booking I made at Trump was non refundable).

No reason to have to stick to booking direct just so you can make changes. In fact in general I've found it's usually easier to make changes thru a major third party site than direct. Sometimes a lot easier; different area but thinking of Disney and their toll line for changes.

Seeking Feedback - Las Vegas to/from airport to strip

Hello,
I will be flying with a family of three to Las Vegas next Sunday. I will be traveling with a toddler (2 yrs old). Does anyone know if taxis will allow child to travel to & from airport to the strip w/o car seat?

If not, what would you recommend as best travel to from airport to the strip w/ a young child w/o a car seat?

Any promos I should look into?

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

No. I can't believe you're even asking the question. Know the law and what is required of you and any driver http://www.dmvnv.com/pdfforms/qtbelts.pdf

Since the well being of the child clearly isn't an issue to you perhaps you could just give the kid a map and tell it to walk. After all the strip isn't far from the airport so what could possibly go wrong.

Seeking Advice - Las Vegas Travel to/from airport

Cal/PBody,
Thank you for your feedback...

I traveled to Southbeach Miami, when my daughter was 1 years old & took a car seat as any responsible parent would. However, once I arrived in Miami, I was not asked to set up the car seat for my child, as any responsible parent would. So, I lugged a car seat to Miami for nothing.

I thought since the airport is close to the strip, where we will be staying. I wanted to inquire if a car seat is needed, as I do not want to bring the car seat again as any responsible parent would & have taxi or shuttle bus not allow me to install it again.

I presume you both have young children & traveled with them to Las Vegas, and you were required to use a car seat in a taxi or shuttle bus. Correct?

I just want to validate a taxi or shuttle bus will require a car seat or not, so I can make preparations to bring one.

Check out the rates to rent a car. Depending how long you need you can get good rates. There is free valet parking at every hotel, you won't be at the mercy of cabs. You can explore more areas easier when you have your own car.
You will save even more money if you bring your own car seat.

No I don't have kids but if I did I would never accept a ride of any distance if I couldn't properly restrain my child. You will almost certainly save money by renting a car and then you will feel much more comfortable knowing your child is safe.

Sorry for all the flack you are getting, your question is very legitimate, although in the wrong forum. I guess these people never get on a bus, that doesn't have seat belts.

Anyhow, NO, a car seat is NOT required. Taxi cabs are considered public transportation, and are excluded from the law.

Copied from DMV:
7.  This section does not apply:

(a) To a person who is transporting a child in a means of public transportation, including a taxi, school bus or emergency vehicle.

http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-4...#NRS484BSec157

Every state in the nation that I am aware of has this exclusion.

Tatter/Young,
Thank you for your feedback. I tried to locate a forum, where I could ask my question, but I was unable to find one. When I did a search, this forum was closest I could find.

Thank you for your feedback on taxi and rental car options. We will on by in Vegas for three days/2 nights.

I just did not want to be in another situation lugging a car seat around & it would not be used again.

I think we will use a taxi as it is most economical & suits are needs the best. I thought I would ask for feedback, as I thought others may have found themselves in the same situation. I really wish FlyerTalk will set up a forum for general family travel.

On a separate note, any feedback of where I may be able to find monorail promo codes or best way to max out the buffet at Luxor?

Thank you once again for the feedback.

Las Vegas Hotel Deals

Hi folks,
Me and 3 friends of mine are planning a trip to Vegas from 17th - 20th October. We looked up hotels on the strip and everything seems very expensive. I've made trips to Vegas in the past and I have been able to get really good deals but this time, all hotels are quite expensive.

Do you know if there is a way to book good hotels (Monte Carlo, Treasure Island, Trump, etc) etc for less than $500 for 3 days. We want to get 2 separate rooms with 2 individuals in each room. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

If you don't have to be in a casino, you can do the Hilton Grand Vacation Club for $350. Or if you don't have to be on the strip, Golden Nugget, Palms, Westin are all under $400. Tropicana is under $500. Not much else in a 4* category that is going to be less than $500. Happyrooms.com has Trump for under $500...barely....and I don't know how much I would trust them, as I have never heard of them before.

It's a weekend in Vegas. Prices are generally higher, and seem higher yet that weekend.

Try using www.i4vegas.com . Can sort by price and locations. All depends where you want to be. Though it's older the El Cortez downtown still gets good reviews on Tripadvisor. Their Cabana Suites are newer and across the road. Doubletree by the Airport also gets good reviews.
