You really don't know your hotels, do you? $25 including tax for this hotel is a ridiculous steal and would never be considered a reasonable price by anyone in the know. I would stay for a month at those prices. You will probably be stuffed in one of the garden rooms, but still a great deal!

The sense of entitlement here is disturbing by the way.

OK, enough with the lecture, baby.

I do know my hotels,
but what is most disturbing is
your lack of a sense of humor.

Well, if your post was intended to be a little sarcastic then I do humbly apologize.

I just always get annoyed by these 'let's get the b@stards!' threads when a pricing error has so obviously been made. You play the game and sometimes you win and sometimes you've got to let go.

Who is to blame?

If the hotel loaded an incorrect tariff, then it would seem to be on their shoulders to make their customers happy. Especially given the non-refundable language, and T&C of the some of the options of the booking.

I've stayed at a number of different IHG properties in Indonesia, often on Pointbreak or award nights. They usually get paid $18-$20 per night for these award stays. I usually get breakfast and lounge access on these award stays, too. $10 or $25 is still in the same ballpark.

IHG has had many super dupe deals in the past (.01 Euro for two nights) in Venice, many times where you could get suites, even presidential suites, for the same amount of points. In the end, they have always honored them, in all the cases that I've been involved in.

I am not saying that you should not try and make them honour the deal (hell, I have in the past) but to say the the HI Baruna is a $25 property is ridiculous. Bali is not the same as Indonesia in general and hotel prices there are high. The HI Baruna is a 4 star property and I hope most of you will get some kind of deal for the hotel's mistake to experience that for yourselves.

I doubt whether it could be successfully argued that $10 is not an obvious pricing mistake. I have challenged the ones saying it was to find me any property on Bali for that price. Not a chance. Not even for $50,-.

All I was trying to convey is that if they offer you $60 per night you still have an amazing deal. I have been there many times and it is a wonderful hotel.

The other thing is that this is a game which we sometimes play successfully and sometimes not. I just find it a bit ridiculous to get all high and mighty if a hotel decides that a price less than 10% of its BAR is obviously a pricing mistake.

Any recent updates?

My last communication from booking.com was a June 3rd deadline to accept a 30% discount rate, which I refused.

I just looked at my reservations now. It still shows the $10 rate.

I have not responded to booking.com emails yet altering the rate to $171. Booking.com's presumption that no response from an email with new contract terms will allow them to charge $171/night if I decide to no show is unprecedented.

OK, we're cool !
Yes, if you review upthread you will see me
getting upset at newbies yelling "ATTACK ATTACK" !

I have enjoyed quality stays at 1 baht per night,
yet walked away from other 5*'s confirmed at a few pennies a night.
At this time looking forward to the Beijing G for roughly $30-35 p/n.
Yet I may cancel if I can get friends to join me in Zamboanga.

Anyway, back on topic, I have no idea
if this will play out at $10, $25, $60, or $78, or whatever.
It doesn't make much difference in my decision,
as the TPAC premium ticket is the biggest outlay, even if "just" miles.

Yet, I have a feeling, the longer this plays out,
the more likely the issue is now bouncing around at some IHG HQ.

At 9-10 months away, I am fine with waiting whatever time
it takes IHG to make a coherent decision. I have even said that
in my e-mail response to the GM, where I simply advised him to not
charge my credit card on my one NR res, as it will just waste our time.

A bit strange, however, was the response
(this was all more than a week ago....)

Dear Mr. Halliday,
I do apologise for the late reply as I was away on sick leave.
I wanted to acknowledge receipt of your emails and to let you know
that I’ll come back with answers shortly.
In the meantime, I would appreciate if you could share
the latest communication you had with booking.com.
Many thanks
Kind regards,
S. V.

Dear MrHalliday,

We are contacting you regarding your reservation at the Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali. Again, I would like to express my sincere apologies on behalf of the hotel for the incorrect room rates indicated.

However, to ensure that the appropriate level of service is provided to you, we have mediated with the hotel on your behalf. The hotel has now confirmed that they will honor the room rate of USD10 per room per night for your reservation.

In addition, the hotel would like to inform you of the following conditions:
1. Modifications of the guest name is not allowed
2. Reservations made for Ocean rooms: The specific room type cannot be guaranteed but will be allocated based on run of house
3. Guest must present the official confirmation email at check-in

Got the same for all my reservations. Most of mine res are for Suite Ajana, so I hope they will not try to use the line about Ocean rooms and put us in into some worst room at the hotel (well, I guess PCR plat may help). Anyway, looks like a great deal and dziękuję OP

Yes, Virginia, there are $10 nice hotel rooms in Bali.

Gosh, guess Mario was wrong. There are nice hotels in Bali for $10 a night.

As always, the hotels try to get you to cancel the reservations. Once the weak have been eliminated, they offer you small discounts, and try to get you to bite. Hold out until the end, and most of the time you'll come out fine.
