Would be nice to see them issue new AXON's for 8, 9, and 10. But even the 145k for a Cat 7 can still be quite useful.
I'm a bit afraid for 8-10...

Yes, but where it really matters is the new 8-10 and how does that compare to the previous 120/145K scheme.

It's not allowed as per the terms on the AXON certificate.

Looks like we will be able to book cat 8-10 hotels via axon on June 15. Gotta imagine it will be announced in early May. I would guess 270 for four nights cat 9...sucks when these were 145 before, but still comparable to top spg hotels in terms of spend.

June 15th according to an update to a Points Guy post linked above. TPG's been doing a good job on HH and it seems that Hilton have been giving him tips here and there (though mostly after changes and dates pass):

As suggested in the blog, I would NOT be surprised to see an increase in AXON points required for cat 5 - 7, MUCH higher redemption rates for 8 - 10 than suggested by caGALINDO above (8 175, 9 200, 10 225). Hilton simply waited for the dust to settle on the recent redemption changes, expect AXON to be 3.0 to 3.5 x 1 night for 4 nights; so a 60k per night standard room will be in the 180k to 210k range, rather than 240k.

As the author of this post, I can confirm that this is true. While we don't have details yet, Hilton's official PR company did inform us that AXON will be changing as of June 15th. We'll have to see whether the changes are for the better or worse. However, I'd bet that the current rates for Category 6 and 7 will be adjusted upwards, so if you are thinking about a four-night stay at one of those properties, I'd go ahead and lock it in before June 15th.

Completely agree. If you have a four-night stay planned during high season at a Category 7 hotel, book it now, as I'm virtually certain that the new AXON rates will be more than 145k. I wouldn't be surprised for the new AXON rates to take the new seasonality into account.

I see Evian Les Baines is Cat 7, however standard rooms in July 13 are 60k. We plan on staying there in July of 2014, if everything stays the same will I be able to book 240k 4 night stay for an 145k AXON?

Will be interesting to see; I am not as optimistic: AXON has been limited to standard awards, any such change will expand the program, make AXON redemptions more complicated.
