I've stayed at 21 Conrad properties and the Indianapolis one is probably at the bottom of my list. The Diamond breakfast is an embarrassment.

Since you have only one night, I would rule out Bora Bora, Algarve, Macao, Bali, etc. How about the new one in Washington? I haven't tried it yet, but the recent reviews are promising.

I stayed at the Indy Conrad maybe six years ago and was similarly let down with the breakfast as well as the tiny room I was given. But its been a while, figured Id check in to see if its gotten better with breakfast amenity changes for Diamonds and such.

DC: definitely fishing to see if it gets added to peoples best list. Havent been tuned in to what that whole Sakura suite thing is about - if its a no-chance-unless-paid-for-no-upgrade thing, then I might pass. Im not a fan of those hotel-in-a-hotel oneupsmanship setups (like the Hilton Tel Aviv, which I like, but the Vista lounge floor is treated like a different hotel.)

I gotta check how easy it is to get from ICN airport to Seoul Conrad via cheap public transport.

ICN has a good airport bus scheme to/from the major hotels in Seoul. Around $25 pp IIRC each way and a comfortable ride.

I stayed at Indy less than six months ago. Still lousy. The new breakfast buffet was an embarrassment. Yogurt, danish, and fruit salad on a small counter top. Ill post a photo if I can find it.

Never had the breakfast buffet there but room service food (for breakfast and dinner) was always very good. I also found the staff extremely friendly and helpful - typical of midwestern US properties. No issue there - I also put in time at the Westin, the JW, and a couple others in Indy and the Conrad was the best of the bunch IMO.

I would be happy with either Seoul or Tokyo, but don't forget London. A very nice Conrad, and less time in the air..

Am I the only one who finds the idea of flying to Asia from the US just to spend one night in a nice hotel because you have a certificate slightly insane?

Two weeks ago I flew from Boise, ID to Oahu for lunch and then turned around, because I had been craving some fresh ahi tuna.

Yes.

Yes its insane.

(*Ahi Assassins, hole in the wall local place. I recommend it.)

So far the Conrad Koh Samui is my favorite.

Least favorite by far was Fort Lauderdale.

Osaka Conrad for me, followed by Conrad Macau, Conrad Singapore, least favorites, Chicago, NYC downtown (came across as a revamped ES), and Bangkok (might be better since they started renovating the rooms).

I love the Conrad Algarve. The rooms are amazing, the breakfast is spectacular, the management works really hard at solving any problems, the spa is wonderful, the restaurant has great food, and they will take you to a lovely beach spot! My favorite Conrad by far!
