Good news from Conrad Hong Kong. Previously 80K points. And I am being sarcastic here.

Did you choose standard room reward? Those prices are normally for the premium rooms. I think there is still bug inside. The flexible calendar only shows you the availability of premium room rewards, however if you proceed further, as long as there is a standard room available, the price is going back 'normal'. Conrad HK shows 80k for March 24-25.

Wow okay thanks. Sorry for being misled, but the bug then is REAL irritating for now.

Lauren said the bug is being worked on and should be fixed by today.

Looks like good and bad. I had an award night at the AMS hilton this June at 57,500. I just revised my reservation under the new system and it went down to 39,000. But my KIX reservation would have increased about 100K (but in fairness I've had that reservation for a while and its in the middle of Cherry Blossom season)

WA Roosevelt New Orleans:

Almost always 50k points on non-football/Mardi-Gras weekends. Now it's 70k points/night.

Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort

Almost always 50k points or 65k points for a summer weekend. Now 70k points across the board.

If they keep printing points, they're eventually going to drop in value.

Many hotels have increased in points.

So much for there being a cap to points.

Other hotel groups must be delighted today that they are going to get new clients who do not appreciate being taken for a mug.

More likely - other hotels must be delighted that Hilton have led the way in allowing them all to further devalue rewards programs.

Hilton said when they announced the Honors 'enhancements' that the maximum point cost of properties would not (at least initially) be higher than the pre-modification maximum points price. I can't believe that Hilton wouldn't try to slip in some kind of devaluation with changes to their program. But the only one I thought they might use is to take the highest pre-modification point cost (which previously varied seasonally for most properties) and use that as the new point cost. The kind of jump Kat mentioned would either make liars out of Hilton or the jump arose from an error in the new program's IT. Given that Hilton's IT is generally held together with chewing gum and tape, I tend to think that is the issue with a property going from 5k/night to 30k/night - at least until I see otherwise. (As a side note the 5k/night properties in Egypt and Jordan are superb. We spent Christmas there on points.

eg-: I made a standard rewards redemption for Tallin Hilton and Helsinki Hilton, at 30,000 points they have now been changed to 30,000 points plus 27 euros.
Conrad Hong Kong changed from 70,000 points to 70,000 points plus 302 HKD. Ive tried calling HH but they refuse to honor the initial rates, is this not breach of contract?

Indeed. Last night I made a couple precautionary points redemptions, at full points of 60k per night. Today, those same rooms go for 70k per night. And sure enough, my reservation now shows 60k plus a cash portion.

Another full points redemption made a while back was unchanged.

Premium Reward vs Standard Reward

Standard rewards were always at a point price set seasonally while Premium Reward prices have always been all over the place. The screenshot you show is for a premium reward. On the right side of the image there is a link to Standard Rewards.

GentleGiant Mar 1, 2017 7:27 am

The problem also is that basic rooms are now priced in points as Premium rooms.

For example the Conrad in London - their basic room is now in excess of three figures on some nights - an increase on previous points rates.

There is no longer a cap :(

lkar Mar 1, 2017 7:37 am

Didn't Hilton put out a property calculator where you could see the new maximum points for each property, which was intended to demonstrate the max points weren't going up?

I can't find that link, but it would be interesting to check whether any properties are posting above that calculator.

I would guess that on dates where cash prices are high, point prices are going to jump to the top of the highest point of the range, but if people are finding point in non premium rooms exceeding what that calculator says (if Hilton hasn't removed it), that would be about the crappiest stealth devaluation I've ever seen and would just be outright lying unless it's an unintended IT problem.

GentleGiant Mar 1, 2017 7:43 am

The problem is standard rooms are being sold as premium rooms with an increase on points.

So maybe Standard have been capped, but by replacing these with premium rooms it gets around the cap.
